Hey guys, It has been awhile since I camped at Glass Creek and was wondering if the rest stop to the south still has fresh water. I also heard rumors a few things have changed with the camp ground, is this true? Do I need to know anything special?
Thanks, Mike

Thanks for the info on Sherwin. I forgot to check it out when we were in Mammoth a couple days ago. We stayed at Glass Creek and it was ok. I wouldn't stay on the creek again if I had a choice. Nothing more than glorified rv park with everyone right on top of each other. There are better sites in the campground. Riding out of the camp was a great plus. Hartley looked interesting along with Deadman. They are further back off the highway, so probably rarely get filled during the week.

My sources report the Cult Members have moved after exhausting all natural resources in that campground, including:

The death of 352 planted trout

Filling to capacity of outhouse and trash recepticals

Also be advised there are strange "Blair Witch" type crosses left through out the forest and numerous fish bones.....

Hello everyone, Just got back from Mammoth. We stayed at Sherwin Creek just south of town. We didnt want to take a chance on Glass Creek fearing it would be full, and it was. Sherwin Creek takes reservations. You can access all the same riding as Glass Creek. You can pick up a map of all the off road trails at any of the information centers. We did the June Lake loop, Mammoth loop, Hartley loop, Lookout loop, visited the fish Hatchery and the Hot springs. The best ride was Laurel lakes. Over 11,000 feet. Nothing but granite, pine trees and a dark blue Alpine lake. On this ride we climbed over 3,000' in a little more than four miles and scenery on the way up is awesome!
Sherwin Creek has nice spots with BBQ, table, food locker and fire pit. There are fairly new rest rooms (no water). There is several fresh water bibs around the loops. The downside of this place is it is not free (22 bucks per night)and there are very few spots for BIG Haulers. If you are around 32' or smaller no problem. Mine is 40 and it took me a while to get into my spot.
Overall a great trip. Awesome riding (except for one down day for repairs:M) and a beautiful campground to relax in. We are going back next year for sure.

You're joking right? Heading up that way in about 10 days and this was one of the campgrounds we were considering? Wonder...Are these the same group of hippies that we have run into up at PiPi, Goldnote, and Caldor
