How Hard is it to Install Dish SK1000 on Roof?

So I am going to spring for the over priced Wineguard Satellite Dish for my new Fiver. My question is, do I need to have it professionally installed, or can a simpleton like me get er done?

I can follow directions but am not a very good hands on kind of guy. It looks to me like you simply trace the pattern...caulk it...screw it down? I am assuming you don’t have to worry about whats under the roof and simply screw it down?

If any of you guys have done it, I would really appreciate your input. Thanks!

If you have a cable under one of the vent caps your half way there. If not you'll have to find a way to run the cable. Only need one cable.

Unless you plan on a Hopper? Then things could get a little more complicated. Details depend on which Hopper.

Your right, I just use the VIP 722K.

Even if he, like you, only needs one cable now it might be a good idea to run all three while he’s at it.

Not that hard. I installed our Travler in about 4 hours by my 70 year old self. The hardest part is getting the wires down and sealed. Extra wire needs to be routed around the dish per the instructions and secured.

You have to get the cables and control box into an area that will allow you to mount the control box and get the cables to a location that can connect to the satellite receiver or the RV wiring.

T ordered the metal mounting plate to mount to the roof first and the Travler mounts on the plate. It provides for a much more secure mount on the roof.

If your roof is a walk on no need to find any studs. If not?? Not sure both times I have done it my roof was walk on.

I have done it twice. No big deal. Hardest part is getting the coax cable hidden. Other than that you described it perfectly.

Yes, worry...rather determine, what’s under the roof. A walk-on roof?
