Hungry valley

The short.
We bought a RZR 800 4 saturday and took it out sunday to Hungry valley. We set up at lower scrubs and enjoyed the day with a couple of friends. The weather was nice at about 55ish degrees all day and cloudy. The sun would peek through the clouds once in awhile. It was nice to see all the mountains green again. The dirt was compacted and moist from previous rain fall whuch made the riding awesome. Heres some pics of the day.

The long.
Well we finally came full circle. We bought our 19' toy hauler because we were excited to start our camping adventures but knew it would only be local due to the fact we were towing with a half ton. After about 3 years of owning it going out to the state beaches with the kayaks/surfboards and going up to hungry valley ohv with friends who had RZRs and Arctic Cats well me my wife and kids rode 2 wheeler hondas for short lil rides. My wife and kids agreed it was time to buy a 4 seater RZR but we were in for some obsticles. I had to sell one half ton truck which was my 2005 Avalanche in order to buy a diesel so we can upgrade to a bigger toy hauler to fit a RZR 900 or 1000.

Well it finally sold which gave me the oppurtunity to buy my diesel that we need and i ended up finding my current TV 07 LBZ, one obsticle down 2 more to go. Time to sell the TH. I had some seiours buyers but same issue we are having its to narrow for a SidexSide at 61 inches. We came to the conclusion that if we got a bigger toy hauler it would eat up alot of drive way and the truck would be parked blocking the sidewalk or we would have to settle parking on the street which we didnt really want to do. So i finally decide that we can only fit a rzr 570 and a kids 170 and that it stil would be alot of fun.

Last week i was browsing CL and saw a RZR 800 4 for sale that caught my attention 2014 with 11 hours and thought hmmm that looks really short and narrower let me check the specs. Well what do you know specs read 60.5 inches wide and about 10ft 6inches length, we have about 61-62 ish width and about 11ft 9inches length. I contacted seller to arrange to see if it would fit in my TH and made the 8 hour round trip drive out to test fit it in the TH. And what do you know it fits with zero room to spare. Stoked! We bought it saturday and took it out sunday. The whole time i never considered an 800 and dont know why i had my mind made up on a 900 or 1000. I dont need the latest and greatest i just overlooked it and figured no 4 seater side x side would fit. We are all stoked thanks for reading and sorry if theres any errors this tablet sucks. (Samsung android) i need an ipad.

Its a nice place. Hoildays its gets really crowded. The Park rangers have things going on during some of the weekends like educatinonal activites and arts and crafts for the kids. They give out goodie bags with a dvd of hungry valley pencils stickers and booklets. Check out their facebook page for events that are going on.

Been there many, many times! Still one of my favorite places to ride!

Like someone else said above, it's all about family time! Your kids will always remember these trips!

Congrats!!!!

Thanks. My kids love it at gorman, we go often usually at smith fork, for the kids track. Now with the diesel and a RZR we are going to venture off to some other places.

I still remember our family jeep trips back in the 50's and 60's I'm sure at the time there may have been stuff I didn't like (get fire wood, dig a latrine, sand every where, bugs) but I only remember the fun stuff.

Thats so cool to have those kind of memories. I have 2 girls and one thing they sure love doing is starting the Bon Fire:E

When you say Hungary Valley are you referring to Hungary Valley off the grape vine? If so, have you camped on top of Alamo mountain? We used to like camping up on top. They say 4WD required but that is nonsense we took our TC up there a lot.

Good deal great pics!

As for paddle tires, I can't speak to Pismo but I had Big Horns on my Polaris Sportsman and even a set or paddles, those big horns were as good if not better then paddles. Those that go to Pismo can offer better advice though, the sand from the Oregon Dunes is probably a lot different.

Yeah, these big horn look pretty beefy. This RZR is practically new.
