I got tired of having the china bomb blow outs. 2 blew and one broke belts,I was lucky enough to see it before it blew. This all happened in a year and a half.I have been on this site looking for info. I got a few bits and pieces and found a diesel power article my brother told me about.I saw one guy typed that was the best thing he did on his 5er.
So this is what I did. I got the vision wheel hauler 81 part #81A9781MO this has the standard center cap this wasn't deep enough for mine so I had to replace my dust caps that were barely short enough. I don't know if the deep center cap would be sticking out too far your liking but you could just put it on with no worries. This wheel is rated for 4500 lbs. There is a black (81A9781MBO) one and the machined finish(mine) available.

This leads us to tires, I got the Dunlop SP348 in a 225/70r19.5 these are g rated at 3,9?? lbs each so I have a little wiggle room on capacity.the Fuzion 322 has tandem axles and a big space between the tires so clearance isn't an issue. the height is about 1.5 to 2 inches higher then the original 235/80r16 that it came with.I have at least 4 inches clearance over the tires. I had previously added the Mor/Ryde SRE/4000 center links. This may have got me some more clearance but also increases the tire travel.

This is what I did i would have loved to have been able to just use a michelin rib but they were not rated for the weight of the rig the good year g 614 was but had a 75 mph speed rating, st tires were worse at 65 mph. Right or wrong this is what I did I can only wish anyone the best of luck with whatever they decide to do.

I got prices on everything the Bfg ST230 steering tire was cheaper by a few dollars but none were available and we had no date for when they would be. So I have just about $500 per tire and wheel.I believe the commercial tire is a good route to take for longevity. the rim is made in china but I was pleasently surprised with the visual quality of the rim. The tires are made in the U.S.A. mine had a date code of 1114 and I got them a week ago so another plus.

I hope this helps someone with a choice and cuts out some guess work for you. Again good luck with your choice.

They were the only ones i could find that were available. Rickson can make a steel wheel but it was more expensive. I really didn't want aluminum I thought steel would be better cause of tightening issues with the factory rims but after the first 30 miles these seemed to stay tight To ocean city from Rock Hall via Galena and Dover. If someone else makes the 19.5 for a single wheel dodge it will work as long as the hole fits your hub which it should The pattern is 8 lugs on 6.5 in centers but the wheels need to be tapered for an acorn nut to hold it center by the lugs. You can try ALCOA they might make something but I couldn't find them for single wheel application.

One guy put the 245/70r19.5 on his 5er but they got pretty big(like 34") in my opinion.

Also It was a wing and a prayer for only being able to find 2 guys who have done it that didn't tell of any other mods to the trailer. I still felt like I took a leap of faith. I do think they are a decent looking rim.

Did you discover these rims on your own or did you just follow the recepie of the other member here that did this mod on his 322 a couple years ago using the same rims. Seems like a good idea, but I have never really looked into it and am wondering are these the only rims that will work with this mod or did you find other styles that would work, but settled on these because you liked the look?

Somehow I wish that the manufactures would start putting on 17 or 18" rims at the factory, along with disk brakes, and axles rated at at least a couple hundred pounds more than the unloaded vehicle weight.

The 2005 and later Ford trucks come with reasonable priced 18" rims and tires rated around 3,500 pounds each. 17.5" rims are rated upwards of 5,500 pounds with many tires to match it's ratings. and if they would use dually outside tire (like in the front tire position) then they can put the brakes within the space of the rim, so that the wheelwell is as skinny as possible.
