Keystone Raptor 332TS with a Ford F350 SRW

Hi, I have a 2011 Ford F350 CC/SB with the 6.7 powerstroke. It has the 11300 gvrw pkg and e rated tires. Listed towing specs by ford say that it has a max fifth wheel trailer rating of 15900 pounds and payload of 4300 pounds.

Im looking at a Raptor 332TS that has a dry weight of 13260 pounds and a pin weight around 3000 pounds. I will be putting a Polaris RZR xp 900 in the garage thats around 1200 pounds plus all my other stuff I think I will gross around 15300 to 15500 pounds.

It looks like I come in under all the weights but im worried it will be a hand full. Do any of you have a similar setup that could give me some advice on how this will tow? I do have the option to get a dually but would prefer to keep this truck. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Need a dually.
My Warrior is 11,600lbs empty with 2640 lbs of pin weight.
All loaded, I am all of 16,000lbs. No way would I hook up my trailer to a SRW truck.

My experience with a similar combination has been pleasant so far. We switched from a 10,600 lb dry/2100 pin Copper Canyon bunkhouse to a Fuzion 342 which is very similar weight wise to the 332TS. The 342 is a touch over 13,000 dry and listed at around 3090 on the pin. I'm pulling it with an '06 CC, LB, SRW 350, 11,500 GVWR, 15,500 max 5w rating. Thus far after a few trips I am very pleased at how well the truck controls the extra weight over our old bunkhouse. I'm not running any bags, although the pin weight does set it on the helpers. I get a touch more wiggle (very mild, nothing even remotely of concern) in the rear of the truck, but it's also sitting on fresh tires with full depth tread blocks instead of the well worn set I finished up on last season with the old 5er. This combo actually seems to ride better. Less bounce on the pin....I suppose due to the helpers coming into play now. Only drawback I see at this point is that I can't load it to the full 16,400 that the trailer is rated at. Our usage doesn't require it though.

I also think that a DRW truck will tow better. However, it isn't to say that you cannot do things to your SRW truck that would make you happy. If you tow a bunch, I'd be more inclined to change trucks. If it's a few times per year, I'd add air bags, look for some different tires on larger rims to decrease sidewall flex and stick with your current truck. Plenty of people are in your shoes and do fine.

I pulled 13K+ with mine for a time with air bags but finally decided to convert it to a dually just for more stability and peace of mind. Glad I did. The wind doesn't push me around and knowing if I blow a rear tire I may keep it wheels down. I put an Arrow Craft kit on it so I could keep my 3.73 gears instead of the 4.10's that a Dana 80 would have had. One of the best things I've done to my truck.

Oh and my trailer is about 2.5K pin weight and it dropped my F350 quite a bit (down on the helper springs). At 3K you will be squatting quite a lot with the front end of the truck pointing up.

with a short bed remember you need a slider hitch also.

You should be ok with the numbers that you are using but the only real way to know about weights is to put everything in it (including water and fuel) and head to the scale. Dually trucks will always offer a more stable towing experience.
I would keep the current truck until after you weigh everything and adjust your loading if needed, you can always trade later if needed.

I HAD the exact same truck (2011 F350 SRW 6.7).
I have an XLR TH that is about 12.5K empty- I figure about 14K going down the road loaded. I traded my SRW for a DRW. HUGE DIFFERENCE in stability. The 6.7 had plenty of power, but the SRW and those crappy OEM tries were a problem with stability on the highway going around corners. The DRW (have a 2010 Ram 3500 now) is much more stable in this situation. I now feel like I could take highway turns at 85 MPH (not trying this just a description of the difference)

I was white knuckle at times with the SRW.

good luck. Enjoy! We are headed out on our first trip for the year this weekend.
