Lippert 6 point leveling system

I am the second owner of a 2012 cedar creek fifth wheel with the lippert leveling system. I have a hydraulic leak on the driver side landing gear, it is a very continuous leak that pools on the foot pad and that tells me it is an external leak. The funny thing it will go away for a day AFTER I run the landing gear up an down a few times but it always comes back. It is a significant amount of ATF leaking out and I am concerned. Does anybody have any ideas or quick fixes? Please respond to my email address or on the forum. My email is dwolach@gmail.com. I am at an RV park in the Galveston TX area

maybe there's a neighbor, friend, relative, etc. that could help you diagnose the leak.

I had a jack replaced under warranty and was told they are not repairable, I call bull on that one. Sounds like the leak is the ram seal, but could be the hoses as mentioned. If not a hose, and if you can remove the complete assembly and take it to a hydraulic repair shop, tractor dealer etc. they should be able to repair it for you...I am in the excavating business and have had many cylinders repaired, large and small, a heck of a lot less money than the purchase of a new one....

The easy way to find the leak is to clean the cylinder, then tape toilet paper in the joint area then on the housing close to the top, center, then close to the bottom of the cylinder. Either you will find the leak in the area of the connections, a crack in the housing , then all that is left is the bottom shaft seal if all other areas are dry. Should you be mechnically inclined and have the blocking you can block up the rig and replace the cylinder housing should it need replacing. Will hope you are blessed with a lose/cracked replaceable connector.
Find a hydrulac shop and they will find the leak for you and will be able to steer you away from the over booked never get to you RV shop. (should the part not be covered by warranty, and they can get the parts from lippert also).

can you look on the cylinder to see who makes it and get their part number. you may be able to find parts for it.

Briefly, Lippert paints their jacks black. This easily masks minor weeps and seeps of fluid leakage. You need to clean up the jack top to bottom (I use brake clean). Then have someone run the jack up and down and you can watch the jack with a good flashlight and determine the area of leak. Many leaks can be up high and then run down the jack. I've had several leaks on mine up high and fixed with a O ring seal or hose replacement. If it's the main shaft seal down low....unfortunately it has to be replaced with the complete a unit as discussed. They don't service parts separately. HTHs rockin'

P.S. Don't let your fluid reservoir run low (uses Dexron III ATF) then you lose jacks and slide operation altogether.

Lippert tells me a new hose or fitting can be replaced but if the jack itself is the problem, the jack would have to be replaced to the tune of almost $600 for parts plus labor, i am looking at close to $1000 to fix this. I do not have a "home" tech so I am at the mercy of RV dealers along the I-45 corridor between Houston and Galveston. I am just looking for an honest, definitive diagnosis to my problem.

Sounds like the outer shaft seal allowing some leakage. Its also possible a hose is leaking. The shaft seal would quit leaking once it leaked off the system pressure. May just need a new seal installed.

You need to start searching for the source of the leak. If you are not capable of crawling around looking then you should hire a mobile RV tech to come and do it for you. It could be as simple as a loose connection or as bad as a leaky seal in the jack. There is no way anyone can troubleshoot this via remote control.
