Looking for a new 5er need help

I'm looking for some help selecting a new 5th wheel. I have been out of 5ers for some time. We have been going through truck campers and MH up to a Super C on an International chassis. We are wanting to go back down in size and I'm having trouble finding what I want. I want a 5er that is 31' or less but I want a high quality one. It seems all of the shorter ones are built supposedly for half tonners so they are made with lighter materials. I'm not worried about weight as I'll be towing with either a 3500 SRW Ram or a 350 Ford, either would be a diesel. So in a 31' or less weight is not an issue for us.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a high quality shorter 5er. The reason I need shorter (besides wanting shorter for FS campgrounds) my parking place in my back yard requires me to keep it shorter. I have our 37' Super C parked there but it is a little bit of a job to get it there and I don't think I could get a 5er any longer than the 31' into the spot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Butch

Good Luck.
We had the same desire when looking for ours a couple of years ago. No one then made a decent quality unit that was short. I guess there's not much market for a shorter length. We had a garage it had to fit into. We got pretty frustrated because of the limited availability, but also because manufacturers don't publish how long their units really are. Salesman won't help you because they don't want to go to the trouble to actually measure it. Don't take the published specs as gospel. Most of them list the hitch to bumper length. But you need to include the ladder and overhang in the front. Our overhang alone was 17".

We ended up with a Montana High Country at 33'9", but I wish I could have gone shorter. For the two of us, about two feet of that is wasted, mostly in the living area.

We camp a lot in NFS campgrounds also. We have been unable to get into approx 10% of the spaces we wanted because of length. However, many times the published limit online is shorter than what the campsite will allow (of course, you don't know that 'til you get there).

Artum Snowbird has a good suggestion. That unit was not available when we were looking.

This one might fit the bill too, and made in the USA.

Arctic Fox or Northwood would be a good place to start.

Pretty subjective when a "quality" question is asked but if I was looking at a newer small 5th wheel, I would give Artic Fox a close look. You could also find some good used rigs like we did with our Alpenlite...an orphan but a very solid coach!
