I've always used a little bit of what ever was handy. Left over wheel bearing, white lithium, what ever. My site neighbor, who apparently know everything there is to know about the RV industry, (just ask him he'll tell you) says no, no, no.... there is a recommenced type of grease that you should use and it works better and last longer than all the others, but he couldn't remember the name.
OK fella's is he full of it, or should I look for some of this miracle lube? and what's the name?

White Lithium for the head support and AMZ/OIL red synthetic grease for the bottom ZERK on my B&W. Also one pump of the red on the kingpin where the jaws make contact.

My hitch manufacturer says "automotive type grease". I use white lithium grease.

I use a chain and cable spray. Clings well. But I use it for convenience, not because it matters. Any grease is fine.

I use any good wheel bearing grease that I happen to have on hand. No miracle there! My hitch is 21 years old and jaws and pins still good.

Ask any OTR truck driver what they use on their hitch.
