Montana 3791 vs. Jayco North Point 387rdfs

We are shopping for a new 2018 5th wheel and love the rear den floorplan. At the top of my list are the Montana 3791 and the North Point 387rdfs. I am leaning toward the North Point for a couple of reasons. 1) the Jayco dealer is 30 miles vs. the Montana dealer 100 miles away. 2) the North Point has the Goodyear "Beast" tires and I am not sure what brand comes on the Montana.

I have not seen the Montana in person, but walked through a North Point yesterday. Looking online, I love the slide out tray on the Montana as well as the wide body.

I would love some opinions and feedback from members who own these models to help me make a decision.

Went to an RV show this past weekend. I was way more impressed with the Montana's I saw vs the Jayco Northpoints.

Jayco's seemed 'blah' and cheap to me.. Didn't care for their layouts at all.

Montana I saw (only a couple) had innovative floor plan and other things that set them apart in my opinion.

To each their own. I actually thought the opposite. Montana is still using gold, brown, and beige colors on *everything,* straight out of the 1980s, very dated.

Jayco has a whole new color palette for 2018, and they've cleaned up a lot of the arbitrary fussiness of their finishes, like straight edged counter tops, minimal embellishments on the window valances, toned down fabric patterns, plain glass inserts on cabinets.

Build on both brands seemed solid to me, with comparable mechanicals.

Both brands have similar layouts offerings in their catalogs, too, so maybe you only saw a partial catalog at the show.

We like the Pinnacles and would have purchased one but they do not use hydraulics for there landing gear or leveling systems. Another turn off was the A/C's were exposed on the ceiling. We prefer the newer and quieter enclosed systems. Our next unit will either be a Cardinal or Vanleigh.

Pretty sure both the North Point and the Pinnacle both currently use whisper quiet (hidden AC) in living rooms and Pinnacle also has whisper quiet in bedrooms.

I stand corrected on the A/C on current models. We looked in 2016 and they were not using Whisper Quiet A/C system then.

The Montana dealer in Shreveport is the one I mentioned that was 100 miles away. I went by there last Saturday, but they did not have a 3791 in stock. I was unaware of the optional tires.

Thanks

There is a Montana dealer in Shreveport. You can ask on the Montana Owners Club forum about any particular questions you have. I know there are a number of 3790/3791RD owners there.

I believe the new Montanas come with, or have the option for, Goodyear G614 tires.
