nev-r-lube bearings

I have used my dexter axeles with nev-r-lube bearings for years with no problems. I would like for someone to check them out so I can do what I need to do before I do have a problem. I have called around but nobody seems to have a clue about them. Can someone recommend a place in KY or Indiana or NC to have them serviced. Thanks for your help. Dave

All this is unnerving me. My 2014 fiver came with 8k axles with 50 mm Nev r lube bearings, disc brakes along with 17.5 g114 tires. I checked them yesterday and found no play in any the 4. I'm well under the 8k axles max capacity with only about 6000 pounds on each axle.
I have an IR temp gun and typically check the temp on them and they all run about the same temp.
Finally, what's an acceptable temperature range taken on, let's say the lug nuts?

I have a tire pressure monitoring system on mine which gives me a temp reading also. When we had the 7k Dexter axles with 17.5 wheels and disc brakes, the hot weather temps would be around 110 to 120. On one super hot day the sunny side got close to 130. Kind of scared me but nothing bad came from it. The sunny side is always going to be a bit more. I am certainly no expert but I would think if it's too hot to touch you may have a problem. That would probably be 140 and above. Also, if one wheel runs hotter than the others I would watch it closely. I have the temp alert on my tpms set at 150.

A failure can occur in any axle system. Dexter calls their axles Nev-R-Lube, not Nev-R-Fail. Part of the reason we changed to the MorRyde IS and Kodiak hubs and disc brakes is because of the anxiety I had knowing we were piling up the miles and the time. I may have been able to go a million miles without any problems but I am more comfortable with the serviceable hubs. Works for me.

I couldn't take the pressure of worrying about it any more.
I replaced axles with a conventional bearing set up.
I have a new hub with bearing for sale.
pm me if interested.

Usually the wheel comes off before the spindle is damaged beyond any service. Spare set of bearings may get you home when parts are not available and the spindle is just banged up a bit.

Best to keep an eye on them at EVERY stop. I always check the hubs with an IR thermometer gun.
My first trip , i nursed a bad nevrlube hub for 500 miles at 45 mph.
Changed out both xls last year

Anything is possible but wery unlikely, I have had one fail catastrophically wheel sitting at an angle disk brake took out backing plate but only outside of roller cage and rollers ruined inner part of bearing still sitting on spindle.

At a MINIMUM you should carry at least 2 hub assemblies IF you have nevrlubes.
They are not that difficult to replace-FINDING a hub assembly is.
It is not a question IF they fail but when, and how much damage will result
WHY chance it-carry a spare.
Do a search on the nevrlube axles -be prepared.

The Nev r lube bearings are very specific about the offset of wheels used. If I recall, Glendale/Titanium had multiple failures and attributed it to the wheels.

Warranty was 5 years or 100K miles on my 7K axles with disc brakes. Not sure mileage means anything because who would know.

Ther is no maintenance or service that can be done to Newer lube axles, can only check to make sure they are within specifications, I cannot remember the warenty on this bearing but pretty sure it wasn’t a million miles, and ther are different sizes with different specification.

Been running mine for 8 years now. Maintain exactly as manufacturer says.

Spindles look like new.

"The problem, as pointed out by a horse trailer dealer, is if they fail while traveling you a really screwed."

I don't get this. I can change out my hub with new bearing and be on my way before Roadside Assistance even shows up. Helps to be prepared.

They came with my heavy trailer in 2004 and are still in there doing the jub well. Seems to me that if they were going to fail it would have happened long ago when they were newer. I don't worry about it. I have excellent roadside assistance and a good credit card! :W:B

The problem, as pointed out by a horse trailer dealer, is if they fail while traveling you a really screwed. That dealer claims to have had a few failures but they are not common place. I think I will stick to my ol' fashion bearings. And BTY forget the easy lube and pack them by hand.
