New 5er totaled before we could PDI!

My wife just got a call from our dealer telling her that our 333MKS was totaled on the way here. So now we have a quandary, take the one off the lot with swivel rockers in it, then when the replacement arrives swap out the swivel seats for the theater seating. Or wait 6-7 weeks for a new one. Great and my Monday was going along so well.

Thanks Minnow, if you want to question me shoot me a PM or email me next time ok?

I first posted my "Great" news on the Keystone forum, then after I had time to absorb everything I posted on this forum. I was pretty sure I knew what I was going to do but not 100%. I did receive a call from Keystone saying how sorry they were but happy that my dealer, Tacoma RV Center was giving me options. So kudos to,Keystone for reaching out and kudos to Tacoma RV Center for giving me choices. I'll be spending the weekend packing the 5er and then taking off on Tuesday evening for a week or so.

Hopefully you are dealing with an honest dealer. I special ordered a new El Camino years ago with midnite blue metallic paint, 4 spd, gauges, bench seat, SS trim etc the car of my dreams and dealer said it was totalled on the railcar. When my replacement arrived I saw its twin there for warranty work. Owner said he saw it and had to have it and paid $1000 over sticker!!!!!!

"Hotshot" drivers - the guys who deliver trailers from factory to dealer - want quickest turnaround possible.
Another job, another payday.

"Professional driver" only applies - as they get paid for what they do.
Anyone with a pickup can get on the payroll - you can too.!
I was alluding to the dealer having you already hooked and could sell yours to new customer with short time delivery to them and will order yours for a later time for you. They seem to jump thru hoops to make sales and twofers are great commissions!
***************************************************************

But, back to your off-topic El Camino story.
Here's the opposite - a stroke of luck with no "premium" added.

Friend was impressed by the 1963 Dodge 426 Wedge factory hot rods.
Decided he had to have one for 1964 - but in a nicer package, so ordered a 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury with a 426 Wedge.

Went with him when he got "the call". We had to walk past the repair garage to enter the dealership in Culver City CA.
One of the mechanics offered some "bad news":

"Your car was delivered with the wrong engine!!"..:(

Yeah it sure was!..:@
The first Hemi on the West Coast!..:C

The new owner immediately took it to the old San Fernando Drag strip "as is". Tried to do so without disclosing what was under the hood, but after tech inspection (for a "stock" class) the word got out.

Dick Landy discovered (peeved) the engine that was supposed to be in a car destined for him (& hadn't arrived yet) was in a car at the track with - -
factory stock tires, a PCV valve and....... NO tach!

That car was eventually sold to someone working at the studios 1965(?), when the owner was going thru a divorce and couldn't afford to rebuild a blown engine.

What would it be worth now?
Fer sure - A *LOT* of hotshot deliveries..:B

Don't confuse Hot shot drivers with Rv delivery drivers. They are not the same. Hot shots deliver anything anywhere. trailer delivery drivers do just the trailers, they cannot haul back loads unless it is a trailer or something that would fit in the bed with the 5er hitch. Also anyone with a pick up cannot be a delivery driver. They also have to meet requirements for the truck and dot physical's. My good friend and neighbor does this.
Why would anyone blame the delivery driver with no information on accident? As far as you know it could have been hit anywhere.

We live in the internet sharing age. In other words, people believe that other people whom they've never met should be made aware of a matter/occurrence/dilemma which doesn't affect them, and/or their opinions on said circumstance.

With a week long trip planed and reserved we opted to grab the one on the lot. Pick up and PDI is Friday at 1:00. When the new seats come in I'm sure I'll have a short list of fixes for them also. So I'll just drop it off and kill 2 birds with 1 stone. I guess it is best it was totaled!!!

Wait for the new one.
What happens if you damage a swivel,

If you don't need the seats for passengers, have the dealer remove the swivel seats BEFORE delivery to you and PDI, so you won't have to worry about spilling a coke on them.

We have a 333MKS too. We would have taken the one on the lot with the swap in writing. One thing I don't like about ours is the recliners are in the back window even though the floor plan shows the couch in the back window. We have switched them around so the recliners are in the slideout but the slideouts won't close with the couch in the back.

Don't sign =anything= without this! Like others have said, even an honest dealer may have a bit of short term memory loss down the road. Don't sign off on the PDI unless everything is as it should be, too.

When we picked up our new 333MKS it had two really nice recliners, unlike the chairs that we saw at the RV show. But we insisted on having the smaller chairs because they did not have to be placed upside down on the sofa before the slides would close. Those chairs are heavy and hard to strap in.

I hope you got everything in writing regarding swapping out seating or other issues.

In an ideal world, the dealer will make it right but if something happens a written agreement allows you to hold the dealer's feet the fire if he "forgets" about what was agreed to.

It could be as simple as an email confirming what was agreed to and asking him to confirm that you are understanding it correctly.
Have to agree, a lot of dealers are great and honest but there are a few that have short term memory problems when it comes to the customer.
