New Heartland Toy Hauler Uses 'Hidden Garage' Technology

Bakersfield

Story is here

"The 270HG can be towed by a light-duty truck, and is priced $20,000 less MSRP than competitive models, according to the company".

I wonder what "hidden-garage-technology" is?

If it's just two of you and the couch folds out into a queen, it may be a usable solution. We used to have a front bath TH and would sleep on the slide out with a jack knife sofa bed right next to our toys when on the road to farther destinations. The rear bed could not be lowered due to tall roll cages and the dinette booth was folded up on the opposite wall. DW wanted a dedicated sleeping area in next rig and that's one of the reasons for our current TC with enclosed 20' garage in tow...

Very true about the beds in the rear but they are usually the extra beds, there is the master bedroom over the nose of most toyhauler. This has no master bedroom in the nose. The only sleeping area is in the garage, so if you want to have a quick stopover to rest, you'll have to unload your gear to get to the bedroom, or sleep on the couch. That's a deal breaker for me for sure.

But how do you get the bedroom down and usable if the bike is parked all the way in? Or can it be used with it all the way up? And how much room is under it with it in a usable position? More pictures! More pictures! 🙂

Take the cargo out and the bed drops down. More pics on the Heartlandrvs Facebook page.
So you have to remove the cargo if it's too tall to allow the room to drop down? That doesn't sound very well thought out.

Just about every TH I have seen you need to take the cargo out to use the beds in the rear, so that is common.

Blackdiamond does have a point there.

I would rather see a vertical slide section on the roof to allow access to the bedroom using a fixed floor 6' above the garage. It could use the same construction as a hard side pop up just for the bedroom.

Did you notice the main living floor was elevated to the level of the pin box allowing for a large basement and flat living room floor? The heater and water heater are in the basement and only the garage floor is at the chassis level. I think this is what threw some people off and made them think it was a BP TH.

Look at the pics closer, the garage is 10' (8'X10'), the one with the vrod sideways is with the bed down, if the up position there is a lot more room. still prob not getting a SXS in due to height.

Instead of rear bunks that lower, the entire bedroom floor lowers midway allowing for quads, motorcycle or other shorter objects to be stored in the garage while still having access to the "rear bedroom". Forget about this for golf karts, UTV's or bikes with fairings.

I'd like to see how they got that V-Rod in there. From what I can see it is pretty impractical since the garage doesn't look long enough to put a bike in there the normal way. Maybe they could change the name from "Hidden Garage Technology" to "Almost Useless Garage Technology". 🙂

Too true. I usually hate this kind of hype because the result is usually very underwhelming. 🙂 They make you think they're doing something totally new and innovative and it's just the same old pig with some lipstick. 🙂

Well, I would consider this one to be new and innovative. This is something we have not seen before, and I applaud Heartland for coming up with something entirely new. This is great for couples.

Unfortunately for us, it is not an option. So much is lost with the hidden garage - no bunks, no dining table, no large common space, no patio deck. We'll watch and wait.

This will work for couples who only want to take a motorcycle or other smallish cargo with them. Unfortunately, it doesn't open up another option for us.

I saw Evergreen RV has put their new Tesla toy hauler on their website. Even the smallest one is too heavy for us. :>/
