Rig is unlevel with truck

Hi Guys,

i have a 2018 Ram 2500 with factory air suspension that auto levels and a 2016 winnebago voyage fifth wheel. Even with the truck in trailer position (lowered a bit on the air susp) the rig is still not fully level. I would guess on pavement i would be out by a 1/4 bubble on average, but not more than half a bubble. Will this cause issues with the fridge? The bed is reverse from the nose of the fifth wheel so that would mean your head would be a little higher to sleep...i dont see this being an issue while sleeping. The fifth wheel as far as i know is in the highest position for the hitch...im also surprised more people dont run into this problem with new 3/4 ton trucks. With the equaflex suspension i imagine it shouldn't matter while driving.

I suppose one other option is to put blocks under all fifth wheel tires and chaulk them if im not planning on disconnecting the truck?

I'm not sure about the refrigerator, but we changed our tires from 15" to 16" tires to give us a better load range tire. In the process it raised our fiver leveling it just a bit. We were surprised and pleased that it also handles much better.

When are moving it won't matter to the refrigerator.
When you are stopped put blocks under the wheels.

Well I will say there is no better feeling than towing a 5er level! Took me about a year to get there with our 2001 Ram 2500 and 2005 Keystone Copper Canyon. The very end of last year we bought a new to us 2016 Ram 3500 DRW, with a 1" difference in rear bumper height, the 5er is still very near level at most off by that 1".

Looks a bit low in the rear to me, yep about 1". ๐Ÿ˜‰

Going down the road, there is enough bouncing, that the fridge won't be an issue as the fluid will still be able to flow. It's when it's stationary level becomes more critical...but even then 1/4 bubble shouldn't be a problem.

It's unclear from your comments but there are two adjustments you can make to the hitch setup:
- Set the hitch to the lowest set of holes.
- Set the trailer pin box to the highest set of holes.
- The only catch is you still want to maintain at least 6" of clearance so as you go over bumps and dips, the trailer overhang doesn't hit the truck bed.

Not sure what options you have to raise the trailer if it's not the typical leaf spring style.

I towed my '04 Komfort about 3-4" nose-high for the entire 13 years I owned it and had no fridge issues. Now, ride was another story. It chucked a bit and I am sure that if I was more level it might have towed more comfortably.

For my rv "1/4" is in tolerance for keeping our RV level. Unless your RV refrigerator does not operate normally you are ok.

Too funny, bubble = what? Big bubble or small bubble? Maybe mid size bubble.

How about dimensions from frame to level ground front and back.

Don't worry about it. The trailer will never be be perfectly level when being towed, roads are not flat. Older fridges tended to be fussy when trying to light if not leveled but technology has improved.

I towed my fw nose high for 8 years with my 07 dodge without issues. Just blocked the tires to level at the campsite. I was probably 1/4 bubble off a well.

I purchased a 2018 Ram 2500 and had to raise my fw. I moved the springs form under the axle to the top. I was riding 30" front and 18 rear" until the trailer lift. Now it rides level.

I heard someone say you cant reverse the axles if you have equaflex suspension? I suspect the only reason im not having to do anything is because i can lower the truck rear end by 1.5" which helps but its still a bit nose high.

i also heard somwhere that with newer fridges they can be up to half a bubble out and still function fine.
