I just noticed after a year that my spare is an 8 bolt and the trailer is 6,will this still fit over the 6 bolt pattern or did they screw up at the factory

YES! Your wheels are almost certainly zero-offset, so you need to replace with the same.

They may trade straight up for a take-off. The 8-lug is likely to be a heavier rated rim than a 6-lug.

it was hanging from under the front thru the center hole. I have been dragging this dam thing around all over in the back of the truck and it wouldn't work any way lol. I bought the trailer at rv nation a year ago iam up in Canada so guess I will just go to local tire store buy a new rim

or someone at the dealer needed a tire quickly and "borrowed" yours then replaced it later.

Check the date code on the tire you may be able to tell the story by the date code.

never had a flat I took it off the bottom of the trailer to put on jt strongarms its brand new

Sounds like somebody screwed up.

An 8-bolt wheel might not even fit the same spare tire carrier as a 6-bolt.
