Rockwood Signiture ultra lite???

I'm considering trading for a Signature Ultra lite from Rockwood. The one we like is a 32 ft'r and has the perfect floor plan for us. Anyone know first hand about the quality of this rig? Any issues?

We looked at this line as well, the Rockwood and Flagstaff lite's in the under 33" floooplans. Didn't like what I saw on the weight sticker. All of them had a cargo capacity of less than 1300 lbs. One of them was 900. That tells me the frames and/or axles are not robust enough. Dont's need to be dealing with bent axles or blown tires. Suggest you look at that sticker (usually found on the street side front of the fiver on these Rockwoods and Flagstaffs) on any unit your considering. Forest River might offer an axle upgrade on these units. The dealers we talked with when we were looking didn't act like they knew. However I surmise that they did know but wanted to sell us the one sitting on the lot. Sorry - No Sale.

I think they're like many other popular brands - some lemons, some especially good ones, nothing huge to complain about as a general rule. We had ours (see sig) for 6 years and did very extensive traveling. Had some trouble with wheel hubs, and as a consequence, had to replace an axle and repair another, but that may have been as much from improper maintenance procedures as from problems with the original equipment. Other than developing some difficulty with the TV/stereo system the last couple years, no complaints; we really enjoyed this trailer and found it very comfortable.

As you can see, we had no problem with buying another Forest River product when we decided to downsize a bit.

Couple that camp with us had a Rockwood Ultra Lite tt, floor got mushy, they purchased from a different manufacturer.

I used to have a Flaggstaff and had only a few minor issues. Won't mind having one.

We had the Flagstaff as well and it was ok for the price. First long trip out the front cap started coming loose and the slide broke. I fixed both issues myself. If it has the torsion axles, make sure it tows level, or you could put too much weight on one of them. My friend has a Rockwood. It tows level and he has had no real issues with his 2010 model.

We were looking at the short Signature Lite and its sister the Flagstaff for its shortness, under 28 ft and its floor-plan. Compared to our current American Star, there is a significant lack of quality in the construction of the cabinet and the frame, while an I beam, it is a very small in thickness I beam. I would not worry about the strength just sitting there, but would be concerned with traveling on the road extensively. The drawers of the cabinet were stapled, no glue and made from low grade Baltic birch plywood that was not sanded or finished. These two items, superficial, are enough to keep me from this line of 5vers.

We had one for 9 years with no problems so we got a bigger one 4 years ago. A couple bulbs had to be replaced and the screws came loose on one window valence.

My son has a 2008 Rockwood Ultra lite. The floor is soft in a few areas. It's not water damaged, it's the foam laminate design that sometimes develops soft spots.
