short toilet on a box replacement question

hi everyone, question regarding our 5th wheel short toilet on a box. can anyone tell me if you all have underbelly/storage comparment access to all of your toilets. we are replacing the floor covering in the toilet area and i would like to get rid of the short toilet and box and just have a regular height toilet on the floor and do away w the box it now sits on. i do not have bottom access to the toilet area. thanks again, lisa

Hi,

The "Box" might be there to make a connection between the bottom of the toilet and top of the tank. Not having taken one apart, you will be exploring an area I know nothing about, so good luck!

If you want to raise the seat height, it would be possible to buy a longer adapter, replacing a 2" tall with a 4" tall or so on.

Not always, guys - the "box" might just be a "riser".

Lisa, assuming the box is about 2" high, square-ish, and slightly bigger than the base of the toilet - it's an aftermarket riser. You should be able to replace both components with a taller toilet (the riser doesn't alter the mounting location). I know this because I just bought a riser for our too-short toilet...LOL!!

Platform (box) is there for a reason.......gotta find out why the platform before doing anything

Two things........
Usually an RV toilet sits right over the holding tank so unless you drop the tank, there is no access to the toilet flange underneath.

Also, short toilets that are mounted on a raised floor are usually mounted like that because a heater duct or plumbing is running through that "box".
If so, doing away with the riser would require re routing of whatever is under there.
