Storage bin locks

My Mobile Suites storage bins have a combination of key locks and barrel key locks. You must relock the locks in order to get the key out. It is a PIA to have to keep locking and unlocking the locks going from bin to bin. Any solutions? Thanks.

I changed ALL my locks, but not to a barrel type. I also put locks where the thumb screws were. This way both sides of the door are locked and it is tough to get a screwdriver in to pry open. Any door can get busted into, but my hope is that the thief will pass me up for the easier ch714 or the one side locked, or better yet will find Jesus and this conversation will become moot! ๐Ÿ™‚

While they won't improve the structural integrity of the doors. If you really want to ditch your keys and still lock the storage bay doors. Check out Combi Cam locks

I have the same faith as well. The locks and doors on all RV's are designed to only keep honest people out.
Any thief could open the storage bin doors with a screwdriver just as fast as you could open it with a key:S
I figure if a thief really wants any of the stuff in the bins they can have it but hopefully they won't damage the doors

I agree about keeping honest people out. Most of us could open each others doors with the famous CH751 key!

Being full time I should probable trade out the locks since I do have some things I really would not want to loose down there.

Bingo, this might be the answer. I could then change all the locks to the barrel type, then problem solved.

The problem is you have to turn the key to the locked position to get the key out of the lock. Then you cant fully close the door. This is the crux of the problem.

I never lock mine either. I replaced the locks with the thumb screws so I can access the compartments without hassling with a key. Never had a problem with anyone trying to look in the compartments.

With barrel locks, you cannot remove the key, unless the lock is indeed locked. I found that I could lock the barrel lock while the door was open, remove the key and gently lower the door so it appears closed and locked. Before we hit the road, all cargo doors are closed and locked properly.

Are you the original owner? If not, the previous owner may have changed out the locks to those you have now. Post this on the Suites owners forum for other owners who have the same rig. www.suitesowners.com
