Tire pressure monitor

I am considering buying a tire monitoring system for my fifth wheel. I have looked at several of the systems. Just wondering if I could get some input from those of you who have a system. Is a signal booster necessary?

I have the Tire Minder system as well and am very pleased with it. I only have an 18 foot travel trailer and Tire Minder recommended the TM55c to me. It works great and I wouldn't travel without it. I am also extremely happy with their customer service. They are located in Florida and you can always talk to someone who is well informed to assist you. Call Tire Minder and they will tell you which system is best suited for your vehicle and trailer.

I have the TST system too, but considering the time lag between losing a signal and being notified of same I would look hard at some of the other systems. It can take up to an hour. I don't use a repeater and have had good luck so far since I moved the location of the monitor to a higher point in the cab.

I have not noticed any long delay to the low-pressure alert with TST. (There is a delay if I unhook the fifth-wheel and drive away without switching trailer tires to "off".)
There is no delay in the low-pressure alert. The only delay is if the monitor loses contact with the tire pressure sensor. Then it can be up to an hour before the monitor alerts to let you know about it. That delay when you drive away is the delay from loss of signal. If you left the monitor on it will take about an hour before it beeps and announces signal loss. The same thing can happen on the road if the monitor loses contact with a wheel sensor. And if the sensor reconnects you'll never know that contact was lost. IOW the monitor could lose the sensor signal from a tire, 45 minutes later the monitor regains that lost sensor and you'd never know a thing about it.

IMO it's about the only glitch in an otherwise excellent TPMS.

I use the Tire Minder A1A, which is not the one in the latest Camping World ad. It came with a repeater and I have 10 sensors. It works well and they send me new sensor batteries every year.

Has anyone used the Tire Minder that is sold at Camping World?

I have had tiretraker for several years on travel trailer and now on 5th wheel. I chose them because their sensors are the smallest and lightest of any. I did not go to metal valve stems and have had no problems. I did buy signal booster with the system originally and installed it in front compartment of trailers. Has been excellent and they have excellent customer service should you have any questions.

Just make sure the system you get either has internal sensors or if it uses external screw-on sensors AND you put them on metal valve stems. Don't try running external sensors on rubber valve stems - well you can try but you may not be happy with the results.

Another TST 507 user. Been working fine for 3 years now. Sensor batteries replaced after 2 years. Found a cracked O-Ring on one that seals the battery. Contacted TST and they sent 8 replacements plus a couple of seals for the valve stem, no charge.

I have the TST 507 system, and it works just fine without a booster.

Before that I had an n-Vision system. It needed a booster, and also gave a lot of false alarms.
