Toilet Seal Lubricant?

Inside the bowl of our toilet, at where the drail seals, there's a a black gasket that is always exposed to leftover water. once the water is removed or it evaporates, the seal looks really dry.

Is there any special lubricant we should be putting on this while in storage?

Fill the bowl at least 1/2 way with water and close the lid and it should take a long time to evaporate. Key is to keep it under water.

That might make the seal a little thinner too. Good idea! ๐Ÿ™‚

You can also use food grade mineral oil (a laxative) from the drug store.

When I read the subject, at first glance it said Toilet Seat Lubricant. Crisco?

Then when I read it again, I had to ask "How did a seal get into their RV in the first place?" and "Is it on the toilet, or in the tank?". It must be in the tank, and the lubricant is to try to get it to pass through the sewer hose.

Seriously, though, antifreeze or O-ring lubricant. Either should do it, with the O-ring lubricant being better for reconditioning it.

You should try and keep some water in the bowl to help prevent this. If evaporation in the problem, use RV antifreeze. It will last a real long time in there before it disappears.
