I need new tires on my vehicle. 2007 Chevrolet HD2500 4x4. My 5th wheel has a 10,600 dry weight and max 15,500.
What are the best tires for towing this site 5er?
P.S. I only use it 2 or 3 times a year.

Looks like Michelins are in the majority here. i have run them in the past with absolutely no complaints.

i currently has a set of Firestone Transforce on the back of the TV, and have zero complaints there either. coming up will only be the second winter out with them though.

One thing for sure, I will never run the General Grabbers that Ford mounts on the new trucks. i have had two of those babies separate.

Thanks everyone. I will price check them tomorrow, just wanna make sure the load rating will handle the weight of trailer.

If your going with Michelins (smother and quieter MS2) if you can wait they run a special $70 off per tire on set of 4 every few months.

Not a great tire IMO

25,000 mile on my Transforce OEM. Down to wear bars.

I'm hoping I can get 25K out of my OEM Transforce on my Ram 3500. I'm going to give the Toyo ATII a shot on the next set.

I have a 2500HD Chevy and have never been able to get more than 35K on a set of Michelin LTX tires. Will look hard at Toyo and Hankook on the next round. Use to run Steeltex radials on a suburban and got great miles. May look at Transforce.

"Cummins12V it looks to me like you are running too much air in your dual tires or not decreasing the pressure when not towing... not bad for 40K miles"

I agree, I was running 45 on the rears solo and should have been running 40. The centers had only 1/32" less tread than the edges on the rear tires. I was running 80 on the fronts all the time any less and the edges would really be rounded.

Yokohama on the camper and my dually. Michelin from the factory on the new truck. The factory installed Michelin tires don't hold up well to gravel driving as one of my customers proved. They just don't like the travel from hog house to hog house on the gravel roads. Chipped out within 10000 miles. LTX AT2 is what is the factory installed tire is I think.

Bought my first Michelin's in 1968 and mainly Michelin until 10 years ago... never again. Like MP1 when Michelin would not warranty their XRV MH tires that some actually had blow out sitting still... guess they were the lucky ones.

OP, today you have plenty of choices besides Michelin for a good radial tire. I've had good luck with Firestone steeltex/transforce on my PU... 3400 lb E rated tires.

Cummins12V it looks to me like you are running too much air in your dual tires or not decreasing the pressure when not towing... not bad for 40K miles.

Lots of Michelin fans here, I've had no luck with any of the michelins I've run over the years.
Goodyear, hankook and Cooper tires have served me well, and I'm looking at Toyos for my next set right now.

I wouldn't consider anything but Michelin tires. I use all season for smooth quiet ride. I inflate the rears to 60 psi while towing.

I was a di-hard Michelin customer for as long as I can remember but not anymore. I purchased six Michelin LT235-80R17 #01569 load range e
tires for my truck and within 6 months they started to dry-rot, as the company who installed them went belly-up I had to deal directly with michelin who after having their shop do an inspection on the tires they said they would only cover 30% of the replacement cost as I had used up 70% of the tread (even though I had only put on 28.000KLM's on them)and after several weeks of fighting them they reluctantly decided to cover 70% of my cost on replacement tires. I was in the tire shop's crowded waiting room when the installer asked me if I wanted the Michelin name on the outside of the tire and I said "Absolutely I do so when these tires start going to pot it'll be easy for everybody to see who made them" When it's time to get new tires I'll be going Goodyear like I did on my fiver!

Don't forget that different =size= E-rated tires have different load ratings. The OEM tires on my '02 D'max were 245/75R-16, rated for 3,042 lbs each. When I went to 265's, I picked up almost 800 lbs more tire capacity at 3,415 lbs each. Yes, it throws off my speedo and odo by 4%, so I just take that into consideration when setting speeds or calc'ing my fuel burn. FWIW, I run BFG Long Trail T/A's, since I do some light off-roading when not towing.
