Kind of upset right now both at the dealership and the manufacturer. We just purchased a brand new 2017 Sierra 377Flik. Front living Room. We ordered it back in June and it came in mid August and completed walk through and everything paperwork, bank stuff by the end of August.

We were looking for something with an outside kitchen kinda thing. We started our search back in January. We looked at several makes and brands. Then we drove around and spoke to dofferent dealers to see what we could get and emailed a lot of manufacturing companies that had a floor plan we liked about our options for the overall trailer. We could pretty much get everything we wanted except the outside kitchen with pretty much every brand we and style we liked. Yes we could get outside kitchen with several brands but their reviews and ones we looked at didn't like them.

So we ordered our trailer and today get an email from the manufacturer showing a brand new design of our trailer with a rear slidout having an outside kitchen.

So upset right now. Wife is mad because when we spoke to them dealer and manufacturer neither said anything about this. Yes we know months ago but they had to have some idea on the manufacturer end.

Ok rant over. Thanks.

When I ordered my unit back in 2012 I had no idea auto level had become a standard feature until my unit arrived. Needless to say I was thrilled and still love the auto level feature. So for every customer they upset with changes they also surprise a few with a nice upgrade.
Follow the story further and the next model had built in awning lights and a flush fitting Corian counter at the stove that I didn't have but wished for.
At some point you have to be satisfied with what you have or be prepared to constantly upgrade to the latest greatest.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if your dealer had little or no idea what was coming down the pipe. Sure manufacturers have buying trips where reps come see whats new...but they still make mid-year changes that may or may not be brought to the attention of dealers. Ive found that when researching new units I can get a better idea of whats out there by being on this forum than chatting up salesman at local dealerships. Hopefully you weren't misled, but in the end you did like what you bought....til something better came along. I hope you end up enjoying your rig.

Laknox has basically the right idea. I came out of the telecom industry and a large part of our business was cellular and selling cell phones. When the new models were coming out it was closely guarded secret both within our company and to the public.

We wanted to make sure that we sold all of our current inventory and didn't have to discount any of it because the public had heard the new phones were on the way. If you ran the business, you'd most likely do the same thing or else you'd be stuck holding outdated inventory or seriously discounting it.

The sales people probably didn't know what was coming or upper management had on order.

Since it seems to be very important to you, why not approach your dealer and see what kind of trade-in deal they will make you on the new model? Yours is practically brand new. Should sell fast. You might get what you want for a couple grand$.

Well, dealer probably didn't know, and manufacturer would be out of line telling the dealers customer to wait. I can totally see their point here.

Frustrating perhaps, but have you ever heard of a truck dealership telling you that you should wait and buy the next MY, because it's going to be better? Of course not.

They purposely hide stuff like this to 1) keep people from waiting to buy the newer models and so they can get rid of current inventory and 2) make higher profits on the older models since they don't have to discount them as much.
