Hello folks!
On a recent trip DFW to Colorado we finally weighed our rig. It was fully loaded, water, fuel, critters and humans and not too surprisingly we look like we are over weight....
I have a 2004 F350 dually which looks like the manufacturer spec sheet says the 5the wheel towing capacity is 14200. Based on the numbers from the door frame, I look ok, but from the specs I can find, I could be as much as 6k# over the GCVWR. From what I can find, the GCVWR for the truck is 20k#.
I only took one weight as there was a line and we wanted to move along, so I didn't weigh the rig by itself. I simply pulled onto the three scale system and got the following.
Capacity on truck door frame
Front 5200
Rear 8250
GVW 11500
Actual CAT scales weight
Front 5200
Rear 7680
Trailer 13420
Gross weight 26300
We are seriously considering a truck upgrade as there is no way we can shave enough weight to get in spec...that is assuming of course that we really are over weight.
Any thoughts here?
Thanks so much!
Tom

Hi guys,
Its very good to read all of your post.As far as my opinion is concern a truck weight include the Total weight of truck + its load. The most important thing is that what capacity of your truck and how its tire rotation and gear system.

Weighed my truck 10\14\13...truck had hitch in it, toolbox, full tank of fuel and full tank of DEF..just me though, steer axle was 5280 (rated at 6,000#), my drive axle was 3860#, (rated at 9750#)..Gross weight was 9140# (GVWR is 14,000#).
Weighed my whole combo 3/5/14. Full tank of fuel, full DEF tank, me, wife, two boxers, tool box a tad more loaded and 5er loaded almost as full as if we would be gone a week...all tanks empty, cept black water probably had 10 gallons or so in it and 2 5# bags of ice to slosh around in the tank while driving from Asheville NC to Seviereville TN..
I digressed....front axle was 5460# (again, rated at 6,000#
Drive axle was 7200# (before it was 3860), which gives me a pin weight of 3340# .
My Gross weight was 12,660 (truck plus pin weight) which is 1,340# under my trucks GVWR.)..Drive axle weight of 7200# put my truck 2550# under my RAWR of 9750#, (based on tires and psi).
My trailer axle , 12,580# and pin weight 3340#, put weight of my 5er @ 15,920#, (has a GVW of 16,900#)...Didn't have my generator.
Total weight of combo was 25,240#....trucks GCWR is 37,600#.
Anyway, all these weights were taken on CAT scales.
You are too far from your limits! A larger RV is in order.

Got any pics? Whats the Tow Vehicle?
If you're asking me what my TV is, it's a 2013 Ram 3500 Crew cab/long bed/4X4/ with 4:10 and Aisin tranny in Laramie Longhorn trim...
Yeah, I had some pics of the truck, Rick showed them on here once, I'm picture posting challenged:).....Next time I hook the truck up to my 5er I'll try to post pics.
