Could somebody tell me the pros & cons of x- chocks verses orange chocks for a tandem wheel fifth wheel? I know you have to chock your wheels before you disconnect, but putting this kind of chock on is hole new game. A more money. I'm looking for side to side shaking too.

Be VERY careful lifting your rig on the rear stabilizers, if you put too much pressure on those rear stabilizers they can pop through the floor. I do hit the switch in front stabilers to raise the front but do it for one second only.

We have rear electric stablizers that really don't put that much pressure - not nearly enough to lift the 5er... but they do help some.

what I try to do when setting up is level a 'bit' nose down... lower the rear stabilizers THEN raise the front to level...

also ordered a set of these these and will let you know ๐Ÿ™‚

back stabilizers, take two pieces of wood and place them perpendicular to one another and then lower your stabilizers on those pieces of wood, seems to work for us

I used our x-chocks for the first time this weekend. They stopped any front to back movement nicely. Of course they don't do anything for side to side movement.

Tire damage and alignment issues? You don't have to crank them down a whole lot to get them to work just fine... use your head.

Have the X, set them when I unhitch. After I level, I have to reset them. Have actually had them fall out while the levelers were working. Does make me question the effectiveness, but I still use them.

Just a thought here:
Could it be the tires cooling down then softening up?
I know leaf springs un-wrap a bit when relaxed.
This might be spreading the wheels.

Don't think everything is cooling in a 5 minute time period. Auto leveler go thru their cycles and the tires spread to loosen or fall out.

We just purchased the X chocks on Amazon 2/$73.00. If you sign up for a credit card, they take $50.00 off. We used them this weekend. I think they help, but we still have the bouncing. Now considering a tripod. We didn't have any problem in our TT with movement, so we are still trying to figure this movement problem out.

I had a pair of x chocks and stopped using them. I became concerned about the force it exerts on the axles pushing them in different directions and the effect it might have on alignment of the axles.

Later when I started having wear issues I had the alignment checked and my axles were indeed 1/4" mis aligned.

jus sayin...

Brand matters, some good and some not so good at stopping the rock and roll. They will stop your rig from moving backward when hitching up but a chock is good to do also.

I had a set for my 20foot TT and they worked great. Really helped make the trailer solid.

BUT, when we got the 5th wheel with the 6 point levelers, I tried with and without the xchocks and found no discernible difference.
