Black Tank & Toilet Paper

So I’m just wondering what others think about this. A camp host told me today that she does not put toilet paper in the toilet because it causes faulty sensor readings, sticks to the walls of the black tank, and can clog the drain system.

She told me that she puts all of her soiled toilet paper in a plastic grocery store bag and throws it out with the trash. She claims she has never had a faulty sensor reading or clogged drain pipe since doing this.

I do not buy the commercial RV black tank products, mainly because they are so expensive, rather I pour some bleach in my toilet after dumping the black tank, and that usually dissolves human waste as well as toilet paper.

I have heard of people doing all sorts of things when it comes to cleaning their black tank or using toilet paper. Some will only buy the RV camping type toilet paper while others use the commercial brand black tank cleaning products.

What are your opinions, if any, on this? What do you use to clean your black tank and do you use regular or RV type toilet paper? Yeah, it does sound like a bunch of crap.

Do a search on Amazon, there are several add-on bidets on the market. Some probably will work on the smaller RV toilets.

I ran across those bidet thinggys in Italy. for a while I thought that they were a drinking fountain.

How the heck is a 3" drain line getting plugged......ain't from TP

Dumping a partial tank.......yep
A cut-out disc not being removed during install...yep
Not using adequate amount of water when flushing toilet....yep

Doyou do his same activity at home?? Bet not! And yet there is a better chance of TP clogging your home drain line then there is an RV drain line.
TP is NOT the problem.

I do bag poop from my dog, but only to keep things sanitary for humans. Likewise I don't bag used TP from humans in an effort to keep things sanitary for other humans.
Bringing animals into the equation just adds to the insanity as though cleaning up after your pet compares to keeping tank sensors clean by bagging TP.
The sensors are cheap and poorly designed. There are better sensors available for those who need them.
I quit using sensors years ago. I have no idea if they work or not since I don't use them.

It probably is NOT such a big deal, HOWEVER, THE REASON for doing it IMHO, borders on insanity! Bag your poop so that your tank sensors are accurate? Really? :h

I don't know. The bargain ones my son buys at the dollar store seem to come apart faster than TP.

To each his own.

I'll certainly admit to putting dirty disposable diapers in the garbage almost 40 years ago, and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

I would think the sandwich bags would be even worse at plugging the black tank drain. :B
