National Interstate Insurance and Florida

Just an FYI in case some of you may be affected.

I full time and have had National Interstate for both my truck and my fiver for about 3.5 years now (no claims). I was informed by my insurance agency (Miller Insurance out of Oregon) a few days ago that National Interstate will no longer write vehicle insurance in Florida and that I will need to switch my truck to another carrier at renewal time (July). I was told to expect a letter from NI. Apparently I will still be able to keep my fiver insurance with NI if that is what I want to do. Sure.

I will probably switch both policies because I think it may be smarter (and probably cheaper) to have both insured with one company. And IMHO, it seems at least possible NI will bail out of the Florida RV business at some point in the future too.

It is not always cheaper to have both vehicles with the same company. I had NI for my truck and trailer. I found them to be more expensive for my truck than other companies.

Wow I have National Interstate for my motorhome and Jeep, I live in Vegas but my insurance agent office is in Florida, maybe I will be contacted soon to change to a local office.

I think they are a good company don't want to change to another company.
