I'm curious what other Full-Timers have in regards to personal effects coverage amount.
What matters is what you have covered. Someone else may have $250,000 worth of jewelry they have a rider coverage and you have no jewelry. You may have photographic equipment worth $100,00 which you declared and are paying for coverage.
The point is you should cover whatever personal belongings you cannot replace if they should be lost without regard to anyone else's needs. Your situation is unique to you and should be decided without regard to anyone else.
But to answer your question, I carry a $5,000,000 umbrella liability policy and have a rider to cover a $30,000 watch, $12,500 photographic equipment, $750,000 antique documents, $75,000 misc. jewelry, and $75,000 undeclared personal property.
I hope this helps.
