I just acquired a 1989 30 foot Southwind. I have no information on the rig. I would like to know what the size of gas tank, fresh, gay and black water and propane tank holds. Also how to adjust the side rear view mirrors. I want to make sure I don't brake them. And any more info would be appreciated. It has the Chevy P30 with 454ci gas motor.

Thank

Hi -

No, sorry it is gone. I have nothing left but the memories. My wife and I are now shopping for our next one - which hopefully will be our final retirement RV.

You are talking about the skylight in shower? If you can't find a near close replacement for it, you are probably better off just glassing over it. The natural light was nice in there.

There is place called "Colaws RV salvage" in MO. I think they have some of these old fleetwoods that they are parting out. They sold me some mirrors a few years ago. You might want to check with them.

One my rig, the one nut was all it took to unship the entire mirror.

Good Luck and Happy Trails. Those old Southwinds are good rigs.

I wish I know you were dismantling yours. Do you have any of it left? I could have used some of the parts. I just found I need to replace the outer skylight. I maybe able to fiberglass it and fix it that way. I removed the ash tray on the passenger side and found a 9/16 nut and a 1/2 bolt. The 9/16 nut moves the mirror up and down. The 1/2 seams to do nothing. I need to move it in so I can see down the side. Is there anything else? And thanks for the help. Can the hole mirror be removed? My rig had some water damage in the back that rusted away one piece of steal tubing. I was able to replace it. Thanks

I just disposed of my beloved 1990 30E. Very sad. Water got in from the roof and started rusting the frame causing the sides to bulge out. A attempt to repair went wrong and I was forced to junk it.

If your is the same as mine, the ash trays in the side panels pulled out to reveal a nut that could be loosened to adjust the mirrors. I don't recall the capacities, but with the water take full (which would serve 4 people for 5 days) we were just at the cusp of being overweight.

The other thing that may not be apparent is that the suspension system uses airbags and you can adjust them as needed. If they have no air, it is a horrible ride. The rear air was in the fender and the front was underneath the coach. You will have to crawl around underneath to locate the air bibs.

On the door and by the passenger seat you will see a little cover about even with the mirror. Remove the cover and there will be a nut you can loosen to adjust mirror. You can adjust front to rear and toward or away from coach but you cannot make the mirror any taller. On mine the passenger side is to low to see the lower mirror well so I added a mirror o the top.
My 1990 Southwind has a carburetor and it has a 105 gallon fresh water tank.

Please check your tires for age before embarking on a trip.
I have an electronic copy of the owners manual and other items if you PM me with an email address I will forward them to you. The owners manual does not help much

You don't give enough info. Do you have a Ford or Chevrolet chassis? The chassis builder installed the gas tank. I didn't know anything about a gay tank but you will find the Pace Arrow shared a lot of the same construction details. Are your mirrors remote control or manual?

If you have a carburetor on your 454 then you have a 100 gallon fuel tank. If TBI (throttle body injection) then you have a 75 gallon fuel tank. I think chevy change to TBI in 1990? Most Fleetwood gassers of the era have a 100 gallon fresh water tank, 50 gallon black tank and 50 gallon gray tank.
There should be data sheets glued to the inside of the closet.
