1997 Daymon Daybreak no power need help

Hello All

I am in need of so desperate help. I have a 1997 Daymon daybreak with the Chevy 454 motor. We are having an issue with loss of power . We changed the fuel filter, checked the Airfilter, performed a tune up, checked for vacuum leaks and engine codes with no luck . The unit stumbles and hesitates (worse when it's cold) apon acceleration . It has no power up hills however we can get to 65mph plus on flat ground. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I might try . Thanks for all the help in advance

If you end up dropping the tank, make sure you take the time to replace all the hoses. Not a job you want to do twice.

Thank you Richard do you know what the fuel pressure should be at the rail so we can determine if the fuel pump is indeed the issue . Trying to avoid dropping the tank unless i have too

Chevy went to port injection on their class A chassis in 1996. You may want to rethink your fuel injection response.
There is a port on the fuel rail for checking the fuel pressure.

Fuel pump or coil. Take a fuel pressure reading. Helps to know if Carb or fuel injection/throttle body.

I assume that with the tune up , cap, plug, rotor , wires and as state check the coil.

Also is there a way to test the fuel pump to determine it is indeed bad before we drop the tank ? If so what psi or something should Inbe looking for and how to test it?

Hello Thanks for the info . When it's cold even when I first step on the gas it does stumble . It does seem to get better once the engine is warm . I am pretty sure the engine even popped couldn't tell if it was exhaust or intake . It only did this when it was cold though

Sounds like a fuel pump....it starves upon hard acceleration and hill climbing, but provides enough fuel for gentle acceleration and flat road driving.
