2006 winnebago adventure fresh water drain valve leaking

My motorhome has t-handle in a bin with a cable that opens and closes the drain for the fresh water tank. It has always worked perfectly but now when closed it slowly drips water and in a couple of days the tank will be empty! Anyone else have this problem and how to repair it ?

The fresh water drain valve is a cable-operated blade valve as can be seen in the upper right of page 3 of the Plumbing Diagram for your coach. (Note that you can zoom into the diagram and see details much better.) You will also find this valve in the Parts Catalog for your coach, part number 062421-07-000, on pages 251 and 256&257.

You can replace the seals (Valterra Black 1-1/2 Inch T1001-9Vp Bladex Waste Valve Seals-1.5" ), but I've had better luck just replacing the whole valve. Here's an Amazon listing for the valve: Valterra T1001PBC 1-1/2" Valve Body

Interesting; the build diagram shows a ball valve but it's located under the coach so there is probably a rod pushing and pulling the valve. Inside the compartment, it also shows a "T" handle (typical waste tank drain handle) for the fresh water tank drain. So, I'll assume it is a "T" handle with rod pushing and pulling the ball valve open and close.

So it could be a dirty stuck valve or it could be a rod that isn't traveling all the way to properly close the valve. Someone is going to have to get under the RV and do some maintenance.

Maybe I jumped to an incorrect conclusion. The physical description sounded like the OP meant the gray water drain, but said "fresh water".

Bigguy racing, can you clarify please?

I don't have your rig but drain valves sometimes leak but they tend to be generic and easy to replace.

Fresh water tank uses a blade valve? My 2015 has a ball valve.

how about taking it apart and cleaning? maybe a new seal?

We all have that problem at some time. Easiest way to fix it is to replace the valve. 4 bolts hold it into place. Remove the bolts and slide the old valve out, and insert the new valve into place. Reinstall the 4 bolts and you are good for another 12 years. Be sure the water tank is empty before you start. About 15 minutes tops.
