So after looking at 27 foot class cโ€™s the family declared the sun seeker 2500ts too small and like the 3010dsf which is a hair over 32ft. What are the disadvantages or concerns with going that long? We still plan to flat tow a Jeep JLU.

You asked for disadvantages and people got on an air conditioner thing. I have a 32' Winnie and tow a car behind. One disadvantage is finding a gas station where you have room to fill up and leave. These would be stations that do not have the pump lanes perpendicular to the street. Another is making sure that you leave enough room when you turn as the back end swings more than you might realize. There are advantages and disadvantages to every unit, but in most cases the advantages (like roominess) out way the disadvantages.

I didn't realize rigs like mine came with two AC units, but it makes a lot of sense and is a good suggestion. We stopped for a nap on a hot afternoon in Wyoming and closed the door to the bedroom to help the ac unit cool the front section. Opening the awning towards the sun brought the temperature down and we napped comfortably on the couch, the dinette, and the bunk overhead.
Other than that we are usually out of the rig in an air-conditioned building or a body of water ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a Jayco Greyhawk 31SS, and it has one ducted 15K BTU A/C, it "works" but in 90 degree heat, in direct sunlight, I doubt i would see any temp below 78... Luckily, i don't go anywhere that hot. We don't like the hot, humid weather, so one A/C works for us. I believe in 2006 when this coach was built, that they were calling these super c's... I could be wrong. Also, i only have 2 small storage compartments on the passenger side, and a large one across the back from one side to the other.

It is indeed a very valid point, the more bodies the more AC you will need. I had a 27 foot Class C. Even that could have used a second AC in weather over 90 degrees and a crew of children and adults. If you need more room I would not worry about the extra length. It will make it a little more difficult in some situations. But not many. JMHO

The cargo carrying capacity goes down with the longer length. Although that may not be an issue for you. The towing capacity -Ford vs Chevy is different. The extra room is nice. We went with a longer one because the shorter ones did not have a couch. The main seating was the dinette. And we did not like the corner bed in several that we looked at-wanted to be able to enter from the sides instead of crawling in from the bottom. We really wanted a shorter C, but could not find one with the features that we wanted so we had to go longer. Gary

If your going to 32 foot long, make sure it has two ac units. Going with one in that length is the number one newbie mistake. Now your going to hear from people who say one 15K unit will work. It won't, not when you get into the mid to upper 90's and above. You won't find a lot of twin ac models on the dealers lots, that's so when you find out your mistake, you need to trade at a loss. If you search this forum you will find all kinds of threads on how people are trying to cope with one, add an additional one etc. Most don't come wired for a second ac, and it can be a real hassle to retrofit. My 32 foot Greyhawk has two and is one of the reasons I bought it. Also go to youtube and search RV mistakes. There is one honest salesman there who will tell you the same. Good luck.

What he said...

One AC in just about any Motorhome over 27 'is marginal at best over 30' is a joke and the joke will be on you. On the other side of the coin, how large is the furnace? My 24' C came with a 35,000 BTU furnace which clearly is overkill but boy does that thing get the job done. We have friends with a 30" Class A and their smallish furnace is a joke. We sat in their rig bundled up and shivering with temps just in the mid-forties.

The key thing to remember here is that if the manufacturer went that CHEAPO on the AC {only one} or the furnace, under 25K BTU minimum... what else did they cheap out on??? IMHO: "Run Forrest run" from any rig screaming cheaped out, so loudly.

As always... Opinions aND YMMV.

30 foot class a. Agree with the two ACs. Especially with more than two persons. Believe it or not, human bodies generate a LOT of heat! smaller kids in tight places do not like to be uncomfortable.
