Adjusting Entry Door - 2007 Monaco Cayman

We recently purchased our 2007 pusher and cannot be more pleased with the way it handles on the road (after we replaced the trailing arms).

We have a serious problem with the entry door though. When closed, the top of the door does not seal. From the hinge side, the top gradually moves outward and when it rains, or when I was the coach, water streams down the inside of the door.

I am a "rookie" at RVing and wanted to get some advice before I tried to adjust anything. When I look at the hinges, the hinge pins are not straight. (I am comparing that to the door hinges on my home - when pins are inserted the hinge is straight.) You can tell the pins are bent but the door closes fine, just does not seal at the top.

I did place my level on the outside edge of the door and the door appears to be level.

Thanks in advance!

This is a common problem with HR/Monaco units. Our 2007 Endeavor leaked around the door for years. Water runs down the side of the unit. Surface tension of the water and gravity will allow water to run around the top edge of the trim onto the top of the door and drip inside.

Looked at what other manufacturers did around the top of their doors. Bought the flexible gutter material with adhesive backing and applied it around the top of the door in an arch to channel the water around the door. Problem finally fixed

Find out who provided the door. On our rig it was Attwood. I called them and was able to get drawings and new seals for my door.

Wrap some electrical tape around the top latch peg assuming you do have two. Not a permanent fix but help keep the rain out. Start with small amount of tape and work your way up to the point where the door will shut tight and still unlatch. May still need the weather strip as well.

Before you start adjusting the door, I would go to the hardware store and get some extra door seal strips. You just cut them to size, peel the back off and stick them on. This is what I did and it worked perfect. I put some pretty thick strips on mine and the door is a little hard to open. I just keep the latch oiled up good and don't have a problem.
