Air Bags or Timbren SES

Does anyone know how the Timbren SES works compared to air bags? I need to replace all 4 bags on my 1989 Southwind. My rear springs looks like they may have sagged some over the years. I just bought the rig and the old bags have rotted away.

Thanks

I have a set of timbrens left over here from my 2006 F250. They are just a coushier bump stop to take the sag out of an overloaded suspension. I had a 35', 2004 FR Sandpiper Fifthwheel at the time. While leveling out the truck under load, I felt the truck was always against the bumpstop and the ride suffered. I wouldn't think of installing them on a motorhome.

Timbrens are fixed, non-adjustable. Air bags can be adjusted to whatever air pressure works for you at the time.
I have four corner air bags and I can leave them at a low pressure for a smoother ride, or pump them up higher if the winds are blowing to give a stable ride, with less sway, in heavy cross winds.

Yes I have read the talk about the difference between the two system, Air Bags or Timbren. Most sound to me as if they sell one so the other is system so the other is bad. The Timbren for RV provides lift all the time. I am looking for someone who has used the Timbren SES on their own Class A RV and want to know if they liked them. Did they do or did not do what they say they will do. People selling things will sell you junk just to make a buck.

Buster,

Without more research, I am not sure I can give you a concrete answer. I KNOW that air bags help raise ride height-- in other words they "lift" the coach all the time.

I don't know that the Timbren SES works the same way. It may be that they are more like "overload springs". In other words, that they only work when the existing springs are further compresses. This would act as additional spring rate on compression, but NOT raise ride height.

Look forward to hearing from someone with more experience with them.
