Are all RV's noisy and rattle?

Just a general question - My wife and I rented a well used 150k mile class C for a weekend trip from a private owner. We loved the conveniences while running down the road but it was a serious rattle trap. The RV was in great shape for its age and was well kept it seemed but was really loud on rougher roads - loud enough that you couldn't have a conversation. Is this normal? It was our first time in a chassis model camper, we have a pull behind toy hauler currently.

I realize that is a lot of miles and things wear out and loosen up but I am just curious if that's the norm in the newer units too?

Waffle shelve liners between the plates and pots n pans. The silverware draw is our most noisy draw. All metal to metal things get protected to the best of our ability. Its fine on the open road, its noticeable on the dirt roads or passing thru a city with patched potholes.

I put the silver bubble wrap on all the insides of my cabinets, moved the grill to the storage bind below the camper, and put foam padding between the dishes. Used an old flannel sheet and cut to size to wrap around the pots/pans so they don't jiggle. Used to be unable to talk while driving; now it's just like a normal car ride. It's amazing what can be accomplished in a few hours. The screened door was a big culprit...never used it much so I just cut it off the hinges. Keep things out of the shower floor....move them to the center of the bed or above on the cabover bed. Same goes for the kitchen sink!

I can't speak to others but our class A is quiet when traveling down the interstate at 70 mph.
When we first started out we had a Class C on the Ford econline chassis. Drove like ****, was extremely noisy.

Yes, they all rattle. Some more than others, as was mentioned.
Mike. Comments are anecdotal or personal opinions, and worth what you paid for them.

As most have said they all rattle some depending on what is on board, tire pressure and such, some worse than others.

As I was looking for my next RV a few years ago I found them all on a Ford Chassis, they were all noisy, some worse than others.

I then found one on a Chevy Chassis, the difference in the noise levels inside was remarkable. The ride of one on a Chevy chassis in not as harsh as one on a Ford Chassis, making it more quiet, less banging around of all onboard camping gear.

This was a big selling point for me.

I was shocked.
We had unloaded the coach for the winter, and then I needed to pickup the boon for a friend's sailboat. I can fit 13'6" in easily, but do not have a truck. So, I drove the coach.
Without all the stuff in it, it was a lot quieter than usual. We do separate pans and stuff so I don't know what all that noise was, but it was gone.

Hi,

I added air tabs. The noise level from air rushing past the RV dropped dramatically.

Some rattle more than others, but yes they all rattle. The RV of an owner more sensitive to the rattles, rattle less.

My sister's 2020 Forester only has two rattle sources: The stove cover, and the ladder storage hooks. The stove was solved with a dish towel. Otherwise, it surprisingly quiet. Except on bad gravel washboards. Then everything shakes and makes noise. Most of it is probably pots/pans/furnishings etc and not the coach itself.

There's huge differences in construction methods, and fit & finish, which surely makes a big difference.

Also, do you know for sure the body was original to your chassis? For a long time, Cruise America used to swap old bodies onto new chassis. Until they finally realized the chassis is the longest lasting component. But I think they did this though the mid-2000's.
