Hey guys,
I just emailed Travis, CA's National Part Manager down in Mesa, AZ. Really nice guy. I've gotten to know him quite well over the last 6 weeks since I purchased my rig. Extremely helpful.
He says they use a synthetic recycled oil called EcoPower in all their rental RV's. It's not too easy to get it yet. Closest place to me is 30 miles away at a Meineke Auto Care Center. It seems like Meineke is the main retail distributor right now. You can go on their website to check it out and see where it's available near you.

I think just going with Mobil 1 or another synthetic is the best way to go.
Travis is only partially right. That Ecopower oil is acceptable as an option where it is available. Unfortunately, is is available virtually nowhere, and also very expensive comparatively, ergo, everyone in the field is running bulk dino oil and that I can promise you. ๐

Hi guys, I decided I'll change the oil myself in my 2009 Four Winds Majestic 28A with the Ford E450 V10.
I'd appreciate recommendations on type and brand of oil and filter. I know the oil cap recommends 5W-20. So far from the research I've done online many people recommend Mobil-1 synthetic.
The vehicle had dyno oil run through it for its entire life. I recommend you stick with that. 5W20 and P1250 filter. Change every 6,000 miles and you will remain on the same schedule that the unit received in the rental fleet.

Thanks Mocoondo, I appreciate the guidance. I just talked to a mobile RV repair guy that's been around 10+ years. He has contracted to do work on CA RV's in the past so knows them very well. He's also Onan Certified. (Also has 21 reviews on his company's Facebook page and they are all 5 stars so he sounds legit).
I told him my Onan 4000 has 1,300 hours on it. He is suggesting a rebuild with new fuel pump, etc. Quoted a price of $950. He said he could just do a tune-up but that the generator would not perform at peak condition.
I'd appreciate feedback. $950 seems high...
