Can't fill fresh tank

Not my first RV, but my first one with this system. I hooked up the hose (nevermind it is green, I'm just practicing, I have potable water hoses too), turned the lever to Tank Fill, but nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong?

That is a three way ball valve and they do go bad. I have one right now on my coach that started acting up. When I am hooked up to city water, it has a small leak to where it is also filling the big fresh water tank and before I new it, I saw that there was a small drip coming off the over flow hose under the coach. So I looked up the part and if you get the original it runs close to four hundred dollars. So when I get a chance to change it out I am just going to replace it with a three way valve for water. It should work and for a cost of only around thirty dollars.

Problem solved over at IRV2.com. Right behind the diesel tank door is the door for the water tank. There's a valve for some reason that turns off the ability to fill the fresh tank from that connection.

I had someone mention the pliers thing, but it was for plastic valves. Mine is brass.

I could feel the valve working, so I was completely in the dark as to why it would not fill.

This isn't my first RV, just my first one this nice.

Now I have to figure out why I have amazing hot water pressure but very low cold water pressure.

That is a small water tank. Mine looks like a queen size bed mattress.
I found the drain was open, and the valve at the top left was closed and that was the problem.

I had a valve handle strip out, I took it off and use pliers if needed....which I never do because I also have a gravity fill.

Is it filling at all or slowly? A others mentioned, handle UP for city water, remove the fill cap as well. It shouldn't be that complicated. If that doesn't work I'd start with the valve to repair.
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

AS suggested.......
Turn to 'city water' position (handle UP) and check and see if you can get water at faucets etc.

One thing at a time....verify you can get water to flow then turn to 'fill' position (handle Sideways)

And you did turn water supply ON correct?
Is it time for your medication or mine?

You may also have a defective back flow preventer valve, it's on the input side of the fresh water tank between the water inlet and the tank. Mine started going bad a year ago and being the lazy person that I am I just use the gravity fill because I never hook up to park or city water except to fill the tank.

FYI
For years I had to move the selector valve way past the position indicated on the decal and it would fill. Now it doesn't fill at any position and I just ordered a replacement valve.

up to fill the tank and then use the on board pump.
down to use city water and bypass holding tank.if this isn't working you may have a broken valve and will have to change it. and the green hose won't kill you just a little after taste.
