Carbon Monoxide Detector

So my 2 year old Costar carbon monoxide detector went down. Beeps twice for no reason every 30 seconds. I called the company and they are no help. It is a hard wired unit with battery backup. Anyone else have problems with this brand? Should I replace with another hard wired one or just put wire nuts on the exposed wires and go with a regular "battery only" detector??

This is the wall unit in the bedroom, not the detector in the kitchen.

Thanks all for your input and help.

just be sure that the air canister is compressed air only, no propellant. I discovered that they don't like aerosol cans sprayed in their vicinity.

If you replace it, I'd suggest the 'battery only' type.

Also blow off the dust and see if they helps, along with checking the battery.

I see that Kidde has a new unit out that has a ten year battery and a readout display for $50. That may not be a bad way to go.

I installed an Costar OEM replacement purchased on Amazon. It had a date code showing it was only a few months old. It was a simple plug in installation as the wire harness connector was identical to the old one.

You said it is 2 years old but how long did it sit on the shelf.. Turns out those units often have an "End of life" timer, about 5 years as I recall, and when it times out.. That's what mine did.
