Class A Engine Problem

I am new to RVs and had purchased a 2013 34E Windsport. RV has less than 1000 miles on it. My problem is that when I start the RV and drive it, the RPM increases for every 10 mph and until I reach 60 mph and the rpm is at 5400 rpm. I cannot go over 60. When I stop; let the engine rest and restart it. The rpm stays at a low rate and then I can go over 60. This same situation exists everytime I start and stop. What am I doing wrong or could someone shed some light on the issue so I may inform Ford Dealership on how to fix.

Last question. What is the an acceptable responsibility a rv buyer should expect from the rv dealer I bought this from versus the manufacturer.

Much Thanks.

2013, it is the 5-speed TorqueShift, so 5400 RPM at 60 mph suggests transmission controller thinks you have the selector on '3'

This could be a problem with selector or switches, the controller, or the transmission. A Ford truck dealer will know how to sort it out.

Check to see if it really is in D
On my Windsport , the indicator on the steering column is off quite a bit, try it in the next position to the left and right and see what it does

I'd just tell Ford, or wherever the manufacturer tells you to go for warranty service that the transmission will not shift out of second.

My initial thought was that the linkage was not adjusted correctly, but since its electronically controlled, it would probably be a sensor or the tranny is broke.

Does your transmission have a manual mode on it? You may be accidentally bumping the paddle switch and locking the transmission in a low gear. For example, on my wife's 4wd GMC Sonoma the 4wd buttons are right behind the shift lever and she was guilty (but never admitted it) of accidentally hitting the 4-Lo button and drove the mile to my office - then complaining about how poorly the truck was driving.

If you'd read his original question "What am I doing wrong or could someone shed some light on the issue so I may inform Ford Dealership on how to fix." That's why he's messing with this bunch of arm chair mechanics.

You just need to tell the Ford service writer what you told us. They can figure it out from there.

My advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Definitely sounds like it's won't go above second gear. At 60 mph you should be around 2200 rpm. Other than checking the fluid level I wouldn't touch it considering it's under warranty. The dealership has people on the pay roll and a bunch of folks back in Dearborn who have the smarts to get it fixed.

The $95,000.00 question is did someone drive it all the way from Elkhart IN in the current condition?

Your transmission is electronically controlled. You more than likely have a bad sensor and there should be a code stored in the computer. If it was mine I would take it to the dealer and have it fixed asap. Can't be much fun driving it like that.

Sounds like your Transmission is not shifting properly. Check the Transmission fluid with Engine running to make sure it's not to low.
