Coachman Mirada floor replacement

Hey all.
We found some soft spots in our kitchen floor. Both are under where the slide out is when its retracted. No signs of water leakage and there is no plumbing over the spots. We will keep looking for leaks.

Does anyone know a good way to cut the plywood floor? The coach has
steel joists. I'm sort of stumped on how to cut the plywood with out
hosing the saw blade when it hits the first steel joist. I'm trying to find a toe kick saw for rental and will use one if can find one.

The other problem is that this plywood is an odd thickness? Not 1/2"
more like 9/16. Just enough off that 1/2 wont match at a joint.

Thanks
Mike

I would use an oscillating tool. You will know for sure if you hit a metal joist and it's very easy to control. Once you have one you will find hundreds of uses for it.
I have used this one extensively - including cutting holes in my RV's floor: Porter cable oscillating tool

If you have access to a router, you can drill a hole and use the router to make any shaped hole you want so long as the bit is shallow enough. Also do climb under the coach and check things out first if you have not already.
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

If your using a circular saw, just set the blade depth to just under 1/2 " and then finish cutout with a sharp knife. If using jigsaw or reciprocrating saw, make a hole big enough to map out where the joists and other obstructions, plumbing wiring are. Cut to those points and then finish with by hand.
Replacement wood, might be a metric thickness. Check with your local building supply store (Home Depot etc) or you might have to sand it down or and a filler veneer.
