Considering this used Class A.......

Good morning everyone! I am possibly looking into this RV and wanted to get everyone's opinion!

I am still back and forth. I have an inspection company lined up that performs the 3-6 hour inspection, testing all systems.

Any opinions on this diesel motor? Should I stick with a gas RV? Anything else I should consider?

Thanks again!

From Seller:
"36' diesel pusher with 140,000 miles (just getting broken in). Great starter coach with strong Cummins 8.3L 250 hp Mountain Master Spartan chassis, legendary six speed Allison World transmission. Recently returned from long trip (9-10 mpg even in mountains), 8500 kw diesel generator, durable fiberglass roof, aircraft aluminum sidewalls (no delamination worries), separate ice maker, 50 amp service. Large walk-through bath with washer/dryer and plenty of storage space. Everything works. Coach has new Sumitomo tires (P235/80 x22.5) and batteries (both installed within last six months), air ride and brakes are great.

Coach has a 10 gallon water heater, ducted or direct cold air (flip a lever), tile floor in bath, corian counter tops, hardwood flooring in kitchen/dinette area in very good condition (no flooring soft spots throughout coach). The coach is ready for cross country or wherever your heart may lead you. "

I sure dont think you did bad on the deal. Those things needing repair can be done one at a time, doing most important first. I am curious to know why the engine on put out 150hp instead of 250? That a big problem or did that get fixed?

I am also curious as to why the engine only put out 150 hp. Did the shop say what the reason for that was? If so, has it been fixed?

Congrats! Have you driven or walked through it yet?

If it feels right, go for it. Pictures don't always do justice, your experience in it will either make you ecstatic or change your mind.

It sounds like it will be the former, thanks to the inspection and lots of pics.

Best wishes!

NOT YET! My offer to the sellers was:
"I offer $10,000 cash, contingent on a test drive, and an in person inspection as well."

Hoping to meet up by January 2nd to either make the purchase or walk away.

Original asking price was $15k.

Do you not think this is a good deal? The coach is 20 years old, and definitely needs work.

IDK I see dirty carpet and drivers seat. Dash looks like a cat got to it. That leak on the night stand was leaking for awhile by the looks of it. Wonder whst happened were the plug is burnt. Personally don't like the toilet in the open prefer it by itself. Like you said it needs all new head liner now was that due to water or old age and the glue that is holding it breaking down. In one picture I can't tell but passenger side outside wall there looks like a bunch of holes drilled in or snaps not shure what that is for. One of the sets of batteries looks a little dirty.

UPDATE!!!! I had my professional inspection this past Sunday, and have TONS of pictures and a full inspection report.
Here are more pictures:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ajvct5d9of9igg0/AAATb1d2_oRg6zC9dRQkVtf-a?dl=0

That link will have the original pictures, along with the new pictures and a preliminary report.

I made a list of items that need corrected, and sent an offer of $10k to the sellers.

"Our offer for your coach is lower than your original lowered asking price based on:
Tires are dated 2/2013, even though they were installed this year. They will now need to be replaced in 5 years.
Cabinet water damage repair
The entire ceiling will need to be replaced.
LPG gas inspection
Cummins oil leak repair and gasket repair
Generator maintenance and major labor involved in oil leak repair
Older engine batteries replacement"

They ACCEPTED that offer!!!!

So!!! What is everyone's opinion on this deal, based on the new pictures????

Again, thank you all for your help!

I am in touch with the sellers, and based on them willing to accept an offer, I will be moving forward with a full inspection from a professional company. If everything checks out to be acceptable and in full working order, I will present an offer of $10k to the sellers. Again, I will keep everyone updated and also post the full inspection report to get everyone's opinions. Thank you!

Thanks for posting the pictures! The coach looks great to me! I 'm retired truckdriver and have driven diesels my whole adult life. The worst milage I ever got out of a well maintained diesel is 750,000 miles the best 1.3 million miles. The engine is under powered, I would offer $13,000 for the coach ( I believe the coach is worth the $15,000 if it's well maintained) after the sale, I would spend $2,000.00 to have a Gale Banks diesel engine improvement kit installed to help boost the H.P. of that coach. JMHO Good Luck with your new coach Roy.

This one says 87001 miles on cummins Diesel engine, radiator, batteries. Maybe the MH has more than that. There are so many things to check out on a MH, small things that you only see after you buy.

Sometimes people will not tell you about a problem just because they do not know about it, or they think it is normal, or they just have no clue on how things are suppose to work.

Here is a few things I found after buying my MH:

The best one was about the system heat, the women says, OH, they told me not to touch this button, she did not know why, so after some readings I think it was probably because it drains the batteries, so the best thing is to never touch it.

The jacks where not working, I did not check them, my fault, when I bought it and the guy never told me. I phoned him after and he said he did not use them as he camp only a few weekend in a year. He thought it was a circuit breaker somewhere and never thought of telling me! I found out there was only two wires broken on the jacks themself.

The ABS light was on when I bought it, he said it did not bottered him since he never drives on snow, but for me, I will be driving in snow sometimes, so I had to fix it.

The turbo had a problem, but again, he had no clue there was a problem and never even tought he had a problem, it was missing sometimes, not all the time. I took the turbo apart and fixed it, but it could have cost me 3000 dollars.

The TV antenna was not stored properly, so I tried to raise it, no way it would not raise. I went on the roof and found out it was rusted and stored in a wrong position, jammed in the In motion satellite to keep it there thight! He did not know because he never watched TV since he had no converter for the new waves. He only watched videos.

One window had fog in it. I asked him about it and he said HO, only when I have the curtains closed, again he had no clue that this window had a broken seal and never mentionned it.

I had a very good price on the MH, and I am happy I negociated hard, but if I would have known of all these little things I would not have bought it or I would have negociate even more.
