Covering an RV

Sorry for the pedestrian, but do you recommend covering a RV with full body paint? Thanks.

Covering it had nothing to do with it. Is it blistering only in certain colors? Darkest color? Sounds like post curing to me, a lot of manufacturers have had this problem.

Yes I agree it does not have anything to do with the cover. Actually is getting much worse this winter without the cover. It started on the light color (base coat), it is now starting to show through on the darker ones. I would think that Forest River would not want something like this out on the road with their name on it, looks really pathetic. But it seems they don't care. Since this has happened I have been reading up on them on the web, sure a lot of unhappy campers out their with FR products (very poor customer service)! I guess they are another short sided business willing to produce garbage, and I am guessing when the tides turn they will be looking for US the tax payers to bail them out...

Do you get the feeling that they would have had the opposite explanation ready if you said you didn't cover it?

rodfisherman - I too have a Calmark cover (custom sizing w/door), used them on my previous RV also. Great company and excellent product too.

I have never heard that car or RV covers cause blistering paint. I have heard other issues like hazing or scratching the paint. If the cover or car is dirty the grit can sand through the paint in a wind (or over time with even a light breeze). That would be different than blistering though.

You get what you pay for in a RV cover. I have a Calmark cover. Been using it for 7 years. Has protected the finish very well. It's very important to secure it properly to avoid wind damage.

Full body paint will prevent oxidation of the fiberglass of the RV's upper portions, especially the roof.

I just bought one of the CW's full covers for my Class C, and I am covering it even though I have it in a covered storage because part of it sticks out some, depending on the location of the sun.

With a cover designed for that purpose - absolutely. Just don't use a plastic tarp.
