Crossfire and a TPMS together

I'm looking at getting a TST TPMS for my coach and toad. The question is this I have a crossfire tire equalizer on my drive tires. Can I just hook up one sensor on each crossfire? I'm guessing that will work and read the equalized pressure, just not sure about the temp reading. Guess it just reads the temp of the air in the tires?

If you have the Crossfire and ONE TPMS and one tire has a leak, what indications will you get with the TPMS monitor?
Will it be enough that it will trigger a high temperature or low pressure signal, or will the change be so minor that an alarm will not go off as it would with a standard TPMS system?

The outside sensor will be likely more affected by brakes temperatures, than tire temperature, so I would not rely on it too much.
Crossfire has build-in flow switch that in case of one tire blow, will hold the pressure in other one.
The problem I had in the past was small leak, where Crossfire would drop the pressure on both tires, costing both tires loss.
That is why I come to conclusion that using Crossfire without TPMS is asking for trouble.
Each TPMS systems have different settings, but usually you will not get alarm till pressure drop by about 20% what is all you really need.
Small leak can be always detected by monitoring the pressure every hr.

I ran the TST 510 system and Crossfires on my Winnebago class A for 5 years and the system worked perfectly.

Yes you will get the high temperature and low pressure alert, and you will get the alerts right away.

Hi all, my name is Sarah and I work for TST. In answer to the questions about using our system with crossfires, it will absolutely work, and you just use one sensor per pair of duels. It will still give you an accurate reading on pressure and temperature as well as alert you of any issue, you will just know that it's one of the two tires. I'll keep an eye out here and answer any other questions you may have. Good to see the support. Thanks everyone!

Doesn't Crossfire have a valve that prevents one bad tire from taking the air from the good tire? Would that mean that if one tire deflated, the air pressure at the single valve would stay constant or equal to the good tire. If that is the case, then I'm guessing that the TPMS would not alert you if one tire deflated.

rgatijnet1:

You have raised a valid concern with Crossfires and a TPMS. I have a friend who had a Crossfire setup with a single tire pressure sender for his TPMS. His inner dual lost pressure, the Crossfire maintained the pressure on his outer dual, TPMS did not indicate a low pressure situation and eventually the inner dual started to burn. Fortunately the fire was caught in time and the coach was able to be repaired. He now has Crossfires with two TPMS sensors.

Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of a Crossfire? Wouldn't two TPMS sensors give him the same level of protection without the added expense?

I have the TST 507 system and Mike Benson has been great. He set up all my sensors 2 years ago, all I had to do is tell him what I wanted 105psi front 100psi rear and 34psi toad and he set it all up and all you have to do is screw them on. I did get the repeater and installed it in the closet.
You can reach him at 770-889-9102

I have the TST 507 system and they do read the tire temp. I do not know how accurate they are, but I can see the temp going up as I drive.

I think only TPMS that you mount inside the tire have temperature readings as the sensor attached to valve will never have good readouts.
Regardless temperature, or not, I lost couple of tires to Crossfire and CatEye till I figure out the only way to use equalizing hose is with TPMS

I think that is the only reasonable way to do it.
You have add-on TPMS that read temperature?
