Do your Side Compartments stay dry?

Over Christmas we took a trip from CA to NC. When we got there I noticed the side boxes carpet was damp to wet Both sides. On Sunny days for the week I left the boxes open to see if they would dry out. Not much luck since the temp swing at night would cause condensation.
After driving home in sometimes heavy rain and freezing temps I think I found that the compartments under the slide has a leak with the caulking not sealing the floor to the side of the box.
I'll deal with that another time. Not planning trips in the rain.

Since then I've had Fans/blowdriers when with it and leaving them open when at that storage yard to get them dry. It does not seem to be happening as fast as I'd like.
Does the sun/hot/cold/night create that much condensation when sitting they never truly dry ?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I had this exact problem as a waranty claim on my Winnie. They paid for having vents installed in all my storage compartments. I'm not sure if it is going to work; I guess I will see in the summer when the condensation issue becomes a problem again.

I would have 1/4 - 1/2" of water on the bottom of some of mine.

Hi,

I get LOTS of condensation in my storage areas. So much so, that I've added electric heating to two of them. This has the side benefit of keeping my water hose thawed and my power cords supple.

One of our compartment floors was damp from a trip in the rain, and I discovered a hairline crack in the caulk on the top edge of the compartment frame. Got out the caulk gun and that took care of the moisture. Also have Eva-Drys in the compartments and they stay bone-dry.

The compartments are only attached to the slide by the Face. the boxes are separate from under the slide floor. there is about ( IIRR ) 4" of space between them.
I've checked the gaskets and not tears or rips. and I have to push on the door slightly to get the latch to catch (compress the gasket)

Just seems everytime I open them up, the carpet feels damp. A box on the other side is Bone dry. so i do feel a difference and not my imagination. 🙂

Sounds like another slide problem vs a compartment leak. Our compartments all have double latches and rubber gaskets which never leak a drop even in heavy rain at 60 mph {but then we do not have any slides}.
