DOMETIC A/C REPLACEMENT SHROUDS

I am in need of replacing the shroud on my rear Dometic a/c roof unit. The model # of my unit is 600312.331 and the measurements on my old shroud is as follows: 40"L x 28"W (at rear holes, 29" at middle of shroud) x 7"H (6-1/2" to center of mounting holes).

I found one on IconDirect.com and they are $114.00 plus shipping. The size for their shroud is 40 x 28.5 x 6.5. I think this will fit my unit but it doesn't list my model #. Our front unit is model # 600315.321 and this is listed as a unit their shroud fit. I measured the front a/c unit shroud and it is exactly the same size as the rear.
They only listed a SKU # 00752. Didn't find a manufacturers #.

Anyway, this price seems a little steep, but they claim the replacement shroud is thicker and will last longer. Higher UV resistance and better material.

Any help is appreciated and if anyone has found a solid replacement
shroud at a better price, please let me know.

You can get those shrouds through Amazon. I replaced both of mine. Just get the measurements.

This spring, the OE A/C shroud on our Penguin Duo-Therm 15k developed a crack. It "notified me" by leaking about a quart of water onto the bed in a rain storm. Removing the inside filter cover revealed that the leak was above roof level, so not a gasket issue. And since we had not been using the A/C, no chance it was condensate from the evaporator.

So, up on the roof and temporarily patched the crack in the shroud with Eternabond-- ya real attractive.

When we got back home, I ordered two of the HD shrouds here-- much better quality than OE: http://www.icondirect.com/categories/RV-Exterior-Parts/Air-Conditioner-Shrouds/

Adventurerv.net has Dometic shrouds on sale, several models, for under $100. I bought a Coleman shroud from them and had it in 3 days.

I went on line to eDometic.com and verified the replacement shroud part number for our Dometic roof a/c. The number they gave me is a new one and it is 3308046.006.
Thanks for all of your responses. This site is great for getting needed help.

I bought mine direct from Dometic last fall and got it cheaper than what my rv shop was going to charge. I did have them install it as the front edge is below the roof line and has hard to reach screws.

PPL has them on sale for $93.00 PPL

I buy most of my parts from PPL because they have the best selection and ship VERY quickly.

You might have to look up exactly which one you need, because there are several Dometic models, but the link above should be to the 60312.

That price of $114 is about the same I got over 20 years ago for the same item so it's not out of the ordinary. Back then, there was an outfit selling a metal should for a few dollars more. The original plastic they're made from deteriorates with exposure to the sun and they've known that for years. There have been much better materials available for a very long time yet they still get away with making shrouds out of this inferior material because they can. I'd never buy another original shroud and I'd paint the replacement to protect it from the sun's damaging rays.
