Ok folks good morning. 2012 Aspect, 6.8 E450 having start run problems. Just wondering if anyone else has had any such experience?

its an '11 E450, the wrench light illuminated, which is another term for the tps and in searching other similar issues. Also seems it could be any of several fuel issues. Bad tps 1st to come up.

1st illumination after refuel. wrench light, sputtering no rev up. Starter also hung start till key turned to off, finally start and run OK.

2d occurance as we entered on to interstate wrench light on, sputter pull over and it dies. about 10 min later another hung starter, shut off restarts ok.

Get to campground park and now no start and again hung starter.

So looking for help of some sort to try and get back on road.

Called for roadside assist and they said basically lotsa luck since Sunday AND 4 day weekend. Hope to find someone because if need to go to dealer cant get it there without a loadout vehicle and roads small and tight here.

Any input appreciated.

Thanks for all that info Hank. Gives a guy some idea for where to look if a "no start" situation comes up. That was unusual for that dealer to let you stay in their shop. Kudos to them!

Ok had a tech from roadside assist here for 2 hrs, and he has determined that the fuel pump is bad. No pressure at fuel manifold port. All fuses and relays are checked as good, power to fuel pump no action from pump.

So will try to get parts today and install tomorrow. Good thing fuel tank not full!

Also they have encountered hung starter before said is usually something simple

Did you ever lose power to the PCM prior to this behavior? Symptoms kind of sound like the TPS re-learn after battery replacement. You might try this:

Clear the PCM adaptive memory

1) Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2) Run a jumper wire from the positive battery cable to the now disconnected negative battery cable terminal. NOTE. Do this with the negative cable DISCONNECTED from the battery. The short circuit you’re creating here is designed to drain all power from the capacitors inside the PCM. Leave the jumper connected for about 2-mins.

3) Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery.

Turn off all electrical accessories before proceeding. Turn off headlights, blower motor, radio, wipers, etc.

4) Turn the key to run and wait for all warning lights to turn off. During the period the PCM will command the throttle body plate to sweep from full open to full close to “learn” the new positions.

5) Start the engine and let it idle for a full 10-mins until it reaches full operating temperature. During this period the idle may be higher than normal. It should slowly drop as the engine heats up. Watch the engine temp gauge and note when it reaches operating temp. Then continue to let it idle for an additional 5 minutes. It will continue to adjust idle during this period.

6) Drive the vehicle at various speed so the PCM learns shift points.
