Entry door gas strut replacement

I have a Fleetwood Fiesta 2009 and need to replace the gas strut on the entry door. It is a 17" strut but I have no idea the force (lbs). I emailed Fleetwood but got no response. Any ideas?

Don't really know why - just know it is. Only thing I can think of is the two arms of the scissor rubbing together was the source of the rattle we used to hear.

makes sense I was thinking wind noise verses none but never thought of a rattle. sounds good to me

I finally called Fleetwood parts and was told 15lbs. Thanks for all your help!

I too replaced the scissor arm with a 20" gas struct but used one with 30 lbs of force to hold the door open against windy conditions. The door still closes easily.

Don't be tempted to just get them a little stronger to be sure it will work because that puts a lot of unnecessary stress on the attachment points and hinges and everything. Get the required struts. Personal experience here!

Does it have numbers on it. I do not have your system but the ones I have change out the numbers on the unit help me figure out the part I needed.

most of the time the lb rating is wrote on the strut
