Finally did it...Allegro Bus!

My wife and I finally moved up from the 5er and bought a 2002 Allegro Bus 40RP. Picked it up in Phoenix with 43K miles on the 330hp Cummins and dove it back to Virginia with no problems. Never owned a diesel pusher before so looking for any advice on the do's and dont's. Thanks in advance.

We use the ready brake elite and bar... It uses a "surge brake" system for our Jeep liberty. The bar can take 8000 lbs. The jeep weighs 5700 according to the door sticker.
We've thought about pulling our truck... but it's a duelly and would be really heavy because the DH probably can't resist filled it with stuff like firewood.

You will be towing a pretty heavy vehicle. Might look at an air brake type setup. Like Airforce one. Va does not require one but has performance stopping regs. I pulled a wrangler 300k miles and no brake but I can feel the grand Cherokee behind me so I put one on.

Check the date codes on all the tires. 7 to 8 years max life. Check the service records on the motor and generator, fuel system, oil change records, etc. These items will be the big maintenance costs.

The fuel mileage will be a shock initially, 6 to 7 mpg I would suspect, perhaps a touch higher. If you spend a lot of time traveling this will affect the budget. We travel from point A to point B then stay for a few months so our transportation costs are kept down. Plus we look into volunteer positions that provide free sites and electric to keep costs down.
