Cruise control issue with 1993 Fleetwood Flair

Our Class "A" coach is a 1993 Fleetwood Flair 22D on a Chevolet P-30 chassis.Well here is the sequence of events that unfolded, bought RV used, roof leaked, rebuilt. Issues with suspension, corrected. Get ready to go on trip to Florida, converter/charger goes out and takes out brake lights, turn signals and cruise control. I now have turn signals and brake lights but still no cruise control. Has anyone had a similar issue with a successful resolution? Going on another trip soon, of course longer, and cruise is almost a must! Thanks in advance.

Ok, cruise now works. Of course replaced two brake switches. The one that was suppose to control cruise controlled brakes and vise versa. Replaced both, to find and install delayed trip by four hours. Had to be done, NO BRAKE LIGHTS! Now 500 miles into trip and cruise still working. Keeping speed at 60 mph, 9.3 mpg.... Yeah!

Well gang, have done all I can at this point to correct the issue. Have not had time to take it for a test drive as of yet. Fingers are crossed. We just finished repainting the top and bottom sections to cover where we removed stripes. Since it is twenty years old we did the rustoleum paint roller method. Actually quite pleased with the result. We have done bunches of work on the inside and getting ready for our second major road trip. Will let you'll know on the cruise control issue, long darn haul from SC to TX without it.

Are your brake lights on all the time? this will disengage the cruise control.

Do you have power getting to the cruise control? If no, look for a fuse...it might be an inline fuse.

Broken filaments in the combination run light / turn-brake light can cause weird problems.

Let us know what you find.

The cruise control went out on my 1988 Hawkins on a P30 chassis. I took it to a good mechanic who determined that one or more of the fine wires the CC uses were broken. The column stalk switch was replaced with a new one, which solved the problem.

It sounds like you are enough of a mechanic to disassemble this unit yourself, and perhaps you have ruled out this source of trouble. I just thought I would mention it. I also had a similar problem with the wires for the Tow/Haul switch on my 2000 Chevy Silverado 2500. That one I was able to fix myself with some solder and heat shrink tubing.

Thanks for the quick response. Pretty sure it is only charging the house battery. I had to put a small 1.5 amp battery maintainer on the chassis battery because it keep getting weak. Of course it is a new converter/charging unit, slightly larger than the twenty year old one it replaced. Took the cruise control module off and inspected the guts, just like that, enjoy seeing how things work, and it seemed super like new clean. Have checked all the fuses, will do that again in the AM. And really not sure how that worked effecting both systems.

how does ur converter take out cir on eng battery unless it charges both? converter should only do house batt
