Gas mileage report

When paying $1.69, it doesn't matter as much, but I have gotten a handle on our 25' Chevy 4500 Class C's mpg habits.

60-65MPH, neutral conditions: 10 MPG
tail wind: 11 MPG
head or strong cross wind: 8.5-9

Mostly with cruise control ON. No toad.
Currently RV-less but not done yet.

We have a 2008 Sunseeker 3100ss Class C (Ford V-10) with low mileage, and 97% of the time I pull a small Chevy 4x4 Colorado and get between 7.7-9MPG. It sucks but that is what you get even at 55-60MPH. If some one tell you different about these long heavy boxes they are pulling your leg. However, still on a medium to long trip even with the mileage it is still cheaper to take the MH than to hotel/eat out usually.

I maintain a log book for every gasoline fill, battery change, oil change, shock change. I have entered that into a MS Excel spreadsheet that calculates the tank fill MPG and the OVERALL MPG. My smaller unit with the 5.7L has narrowed down to 12.1 MPG overall.

Snowman9000 - Based on your numbers your cost per mile is $0.169 ($1.69 divided by 10 MPG). Those driving the Sprinter or other diesel might have a cost around $0.136 per mile ($2.85 divided by 21 MPG).

OP states his mileage for 60-65 mph, slowing down by 10 mph to get 1 or 2 more mpg is pretty hard to do on many of our highways. I seem to keep our Ford V10 powered Class C operating at about the same speed and get about 10-11 mpg; that way I don't become a burden to the smooth flow of traffic. Of course where traffic is light, I slow down to 55-60, especially if the scenery is great and the road is more hilly or curvy; I'll get 11+ mpg then.

Not a Kodiak, an Express 4500 van cutaway. Roughly the same specs as the Ford E450, slightly lower GVWR. Mileage he stated is about par for that size rig and chassis.

On 5,000 miles if you can go from 8 to 10 mpg you can save a whopping $400 at 3.50 a gal (more than current prices).

Not worth the hassle to worry about considering all the other costs.

Me too. This cheaper gas is great but how long will it last?

That isn't very good mileage.
I would start by slowing down almost 10 miles per hour.
I am guessing this is a 6.0 gas engine.
