Great River Road

I've read a little about the trip but it seems to change routes and go through little towns. Don't really mind this but would like to know if it is worth it? I'll be in a class A towing.

I've been on sections near St. Louis, northern IL and Wisconsin driving a Class A and towing, no big issues on the sections I've driven. Great scenery especially in the fall. Roads can be winding and do pass through many towns, but that's part of beauty.

Agreed. We've done about 2/3 of the Wisconsin section, parts in n.e. Iowa and n.w. Illinois - enjoyed all of them. You aren't always right on the river, but it's still a scenic drive.

We drove most of the Wisconsin section and absolutely loved it!

The view on the southern part on the river road is blocked by a levee on one side .

The Great (Mississippi) River Road isn't a single road, but a conglomerate of connected roads. Sometimes on one side, sometimes on the the other, sometimes on both. The few I've been on, you shouldn't have any problems.

We traveled the River Road in the northern half of Iowa and were pretty disappointed. Not many good views of the river. When we got to Wisconsin though, it was very beautiful. No problems driving a 40' motorhome towing a car either.

Isn't that what RVing is all about? Traveling and seeing America? ๐Ÿ™‚

I have never made the trip but, it's on my list. There are websites that discuss RVing the Great River Road.

I really don't think you will have any problems. I'm sure large trucks travel the same roads.

You are the only one that can decide if it's worth it. Try a portion of the road(s) and see if it's something you like.

Enjoy your travels.

Need more information. Where on the great river road are you talking about. The one I am familiar with is all along the Mississippi River.
