High mileage club ;-)

I was at my truck dealership yesterday (it's really a big place) where they service all type of light and mid duty trucks and rv's.

In a long discussion we were talking about mileage (km in my case) because mine has a fair amount of it, 184000km (115,000 miles) and I was asking about longevity and if they had other customers like me. Well he told me just beside mine one had 225,000km (140,000 miles) and another one with 275,000km (171,000 miles). All 3 were on 8.1 or 7.4 GM but he has others like this on Ford's too.

My question to him was about mine and what would be the life of the engine/tranny and the reply was we have tons of delivery trucks with this set-up and if well maintained (not heating and good oil change) this set-up would go to at least 350,000km (220,000 miles) maybe more. Is that true or not time will tell.

I am sure this question has been ask before but is there a high mileage club any of you having lots of mileage on an RV?

I just hit 150,000 miles on my Itasca with a 5.9L Cummins. I have a feeling that the engine will outlast the coach for sure.

High mileage are rare or at sleep!

Yes, over the years of RV'ing that is my take also (when it comes to Class A's). Trucks/5'vers are a completely different matter.

Sold my Southwind on Workhorse with 8.1L Vortec 18 months ago with 105,000 miles on it. The only engine work was to replace the exhaust donuts at 85k miles. The engine and transmission never needed any other work except routine maintenance faithfully done. Just wanted me a DP - see signature

My DP has right at 100,000-----I drove a 99 Ford F-350 w/a 7.3 just over 400,000mi and traded it in on a 2005 with the 6.0-----that 99 with all those miles was a better truck than the 6.0 ever was. Live and learn.

My 1996 has 334,000 miles on it. I bought it 3 years ago and have driven it 18000 miles. Plan on keeping it 5 or 10 more years. I hope to take it from sea to shining sea one of these days.

Our Detroit 60 engine has around 240,000 miles. The 50% point for those engines is 800,000 and we can't afford enough diesel to hit that mark. 😉 But then, it's not a Class A, it's a bus.

The Sprinter engine has a bit over 160,000, but again it's a commercial engine. It's not unusual to see commercial service Sprinters with over 500,000 miles.

Our coach has 112,000 miles on it. But it is powered by a C12 diesel so lots of life left. The CAT dealer told me she should make 1,000,000 before overhaul. The GMC motorhome I had before my current one had 176,000 miles on it when I sold it. The Olds motor was replaced at 128,000 miles though.
